ESPN you need to proof your article before you post it.

In an article ESPN had a link #1 ranked QB Justin Fields commits to UGA. Too bad you chose the wrong player.

Didn't know Justin Fields was a white guy?

Here is the link to the article. LINK

Is Eason out then?

Obviously not at this point but the competition heat just got significantly warmer.

Why would Fields commit to UGA when he knows we already have highly ranked QBs? Likely because he wants to be part of what he sees developing at Georgia under Kirby Smart and he's not afraid of competition. Fields knows that he adds a whole new dimension to our offense with his dual-threat capability. He sees that Fromm as a Freshmen got an opportunity and has taken over the starting position and he is confident that given the opportunity, he can win the starting position which is just what we want in any star recruit.

As for Eason, he'd best work harder and smarter to take back the starting position because with more mobile QB options, Eason is really going to have to make himself a great/accurate passer to overcome his lack of mobility.

Don’t fool yourself; that excitement isn’t entirely related to Fields signing. It’s fried fish day at Golden Corral and Sam & Big Jim bout to wreck it.

Who would have thought we would be here when Richt got fired and we were all praying to hold on to the savior Eason. Now he is truly the easiest of the 3 to let go. He is a gargoyle in the pocket, can't read, and throws too hard most of the time. He has all the physical tools to be great though.

its moronic to 'want' Eason to leave ... why not sell it as the best QB room in the country. It's also moronic to think Eason is a bad QB come on man.

Geez he had a year similar to Stafford his freshman year. We had a bad team and he showed his potential

That's not how I would characterize Eason but it will be interesting to see if Fields redshirts his Freshman season. If he doesn't, then Eason better step up his game. It's all up to Eason. Obviously there are great non-mobile pocket passers like Tom Brady in the NFL. But you better have a great OL to protect your pocket passer and excellent receivers. In college you can compensate to some extent to overcome the lack of those elements. Our OL has improved but they aren't great yet and we have some good receivers but I would also not call them excellent. As such, having a stud dual-threat QB might well make the difference in UGA becoming a playoff level team or not.

Without the mental tools to handle the job, he is merely an average QB.

So a buddy of mine has been trolling other message boards to see what the response was with Fields committing to UGA....

This is some of the responses he sent me that he thought was the most laughable. This is the responses from a few Clemson fans from one of their message boards...

LINK

1. Clemson had been recruiting Hill and Salyer for a long time...to the point that Clemson believed there was legitimate mutual interest worthy of the long-haul. When players "cool" on a school for no apparent reason by doing things like "no show" to the cookout...there is more to it than all of a sudden "loving" UGA so much more than Clemson. That was VERY strange. It was so strange that it really was probably more than just strange. When players like a school to the point of being connected, it is not normal to suddenly slight one of your favorites.

2. In general, just because a school is sitting in a hotbed for recruiting...or even with "pipelines"...it does not mean that the school is doing everything ethical. In other words, schools that own all or a huge chunk of a recruit-rich state like LSU, UGA, OSU, Miami, Texas, etc. are not immune from cheating. And it is naive to assume they all are innocent. USC is an example.

3. Even if you make the argument that these are "loyal Georgia boys" (but see #1 above), you can't explain the change in heart for Zamir White (doesn't matter that other NC guys came to play RB), nor does it explain Isaiah Wilson/5* OL from NY.

Dabo and the staff are doing things the right way. They will navigate through the various challenges they have. And if there is cheating out there, I hope the hammer comes down even harder than it did on Ole Miss.

I feel like my favorite part was this:

quote:

ship tilting away from Bama finally. Tired of them having not competition but us.

Tired after 2.5 seasons of national relevance akin to Bama...

The rest of that is downright recruiting torture porn... wow. What a sad lonely world to be a Clemson poster on the internets.

Other than the fact that those players have been recruited by Georgia for as long as any other school has recruited them and there is strong interest in UGA from both.

There is that one idiot named quozzel or whatever the hell his name is, that keeps throwing around cheating accusations comparing us to Ole Miss. We aren't Ole Miss. We have never struggled to pull big time players and big time classes.
