Would have dropped him as a friend right there on the spot.

In the mail or was it a close friend who called you after the proposal? Big difference.

I don't know any football fans in the area though really. I brought up football at work the other day and a dude stared me down and gave me a "your an adult, sports are for children," speech. Most of the football fans I know in the area are either much older or not really fans.

Your location says Athens. How do you not know football fans there?

I started this when I was in Athens but I've moved. Even in Athens, I felt like I didn't really know many fans. I knew a bunch of students who weren't fans, or were fans of other teams and hated Georgia or people who were to cool to show any real action towards being fans (frat stars). There's more Georgia fans here, but I think I use the term loosely. I did just find out another dude at work (in his 70s)!has insider contacts at most of the schools in the southeast and he told me some crazy shite recently.

Long term friend who I went to middle school, high school, and part of college with and he bought me dinner to invite me to the wedding. Not seen him much the past year or two because he's paranoid level jealous and he just doesnt chill anymore

I mean, I'm going, just disappointed.

I wouldn't either. If you aren't an extremely close friend don't have a fall wedding and expect me to go. My friends wouldn't have fall weddings anyway.

If these are the kind of people you constantly find yourself around then maybe it's you, not them.

Yea, sounds like he chooses to surround himself with these people. I mean, how do you go to Georgia for 4 years and not befriend any other die hard fans?

My cousin Will had a wedding several years back in Kentucky. It was originally scheduled for the weekend of the Louisville Kentucky game, which I think we were playing some scrub school we were going to pay $800K to come get their arse run over. So all of his friends complained about the UK/ UL game date of the wedding, and he changed it to literally right in the middle of the Georgia / Florida game. Me and Retooc hauled arse out of that wedding back to the hotel and were able to catch the fourth quarter. We won - but I'm still pissed.

It amazes me the lack of spine some people have. Unless it's your best friend who you shared a crib with and have known since birth (who likely wouldn't have a wedding on a gameday anyway), you aren't obligated to go to any stupid arse wedding. You're an adult.

My cousin got married on the day of the 09 LSU game in tennessee. I drove up there Friday after work, went to the rehearsal dinner and hung out with everyone for a while, and drove back afterwards and went to the game. I've missed several weddings and funerals for football games. You make your own decisions in life...if you want to go to the game, fricking go. Their guest list will be what, 100 or so people? I assure you in 10 years, hell probably in 10 months, they're not going to be able to sit down and remember everyone who was there. Unless you're the best man, just skip it.

Fall weddings are the spawn of satan.

I've got one Nov 7th, the Kentucky game. And yes, I'm obligated to go.

I've never watched UGA lose to Kentucky.

Whenever we've lost, Ive been doing something else.

You can bank on us losing to Kentucky this year.

If we don't share blood and I'm not standing up there with them at the altar, They should know me better than to even bother sending an invite. And if they don't, well, I clearly don't know or like them well enough to celebrate their stupid soon-to-be-divorce anyway (not that I think marriage is bad, just that people who get married in the Fall are doomed to a life of misery and premature ejaculation/impotence/erectile dysnfunction).

My oldest daughter (Class of '98) scheduled her September wedding in 1999 for an off weekend. They went to the Cayman Islands for honeymoon but were back for the game the next Saturday.
