I'm starting to think they jump to the fifth pick to take a DE/OLB. Whoever Quinn is targeting. My guess would be Beasley.
If we stay at #8 the pick will be OT from Iowa, Scherff.(sp)

I doubt they trade up after giving up so many picks for Julio. They probably have their top 5 defensive players, and take the highest rated one still available at 8.

Hopefully they can get Irvin for a 3rd round pick. Then trade back a few picks and go OL or Gurley. Grab Shane Ray if he slips to the second

I already posted some analysis in the other Falcons thread. You should take a look at it.
In the last ten drafts, do you know how many times more than 2 pass rushers were selected in the first 8 picks? ZERO, none, nada. Not once.
0 pass rushers selected: 1x
1 pass rusher selected: 3x
2 pass rushers selected: 6x
3 or more pass rushers selected: 0x
So let's just say that trend goes down and in the first 7 picks, Fowler and Beasley are gone. Bud Dupree will surely still be there at our pick. The chances of 3 pass rushers being taken in the first 7 picks, when in the past ten years, not once has more than 2 been taken in the first 8 picks, is just overwhelmingly slim.
And I have no problem picking a 6'4 270 lb kid with 4.56 40 speed and an insane 42" vert leap. You can't coach that stuff. You can coach spin and swim moves and technique.
We don't need to trade up. And we certainly aren't picking Scherff over Dupree or even Gurley if for some strange reason all 3 pass rushers we liked were actually gone by 8.

I believe 3 in the top 8 went in 2013.
Either way I agree with your theory that we can get a great rusher at 8. I'm just thinking the Redskins would switch spots and take a late rounder. That low price to guarantee the guy we want would be tough to pass up.
The beauty is there is no fukin telling what will happen.

Trade back to between 12-16 and draft Dupree if he's there. If not take Gurley.

Why the love for Dupree? Other than the combine, he has never really stood out.

First, the others won't be there at 8 to take. Second, he has more size to him to he'll fit our system better (or so the pundits say)

Agree with this. Reminds me of how people were fawning over Dion Jordan after the offseason workouts. He was an average to good player in college, but definitely didn't produce like a top 10 pick.

Take Beasley at 8 if he's there. If not, take Gurley. If he is for some reason not there, THEN you take Dupree. Or trade back, grab a combo of Gurley or Gordon and Ray or Dupree

I am now of the opinion that Dupree is moot as Dimitroff will move up to 5 and take Fowler/Beasley/Williams and probably cost us a 3 this year and something next. That is AOK with me as dimitroff can't find a player after round two with both hands although maybe having Quinn's dick in his mouth will help him this go round.
