Sure they let someone get behind them twice, but Ace pitchers give up home runs. It happens.

Sitting in cover three only to blitz into a Max protect O put our db on an island. The coachable moment was he should have bailed at the snap but would given up the slant....

That said Bama and UGA make a living locking down the first 25-30 yards from the LOS, it just works statistically with our pass rush. Two plays it failed us but not like it was entire drives (the game had fallen apart by their last TD). 7 was on Fromm but it was not an obvious mistake to me, guy just made a play.

I think it is a positive to set the tone for the bye week and Florida.

The other was on Roquan letting a TE split the zones on a delay. Was a great play call more than anything.

Only simple minded people who don't understand football will be upset by the defensive performance. It is what it is.

Smart's job is to not be satisfied with any mistake and to correct them.

Fans... we just saw a few guys get beat on some outstandingly thrown deep balls, whilst doing a good job overall...

I like it because it gives Kirby something to be mad about going into the bye week

Let's hear some analysis rather than slogans. It appeared on both plays the safety(two different players) bit aggressively on play fakes and failed to cover the top of the route. This is not a talent failure it is a execution failure resulting from aggressive play. With QBs with a college arm the safety can recover in time. With a pro arm, like Luck's, they get burned.

This is easily corrected and was in the second half. Luck, like Eason, has that throw but not the intermediate over the middle throw. Georgia took away the long route resulting in a throw to the middle later in the game and an interception.

Predicted it in another thread before the Vandy game even and was ok with it for the exact same reason. 2 weeks in a row with pocket passing threats and incrementally better wide outs and QB in the second matchup... great chance for us to get tested/burned a few times... humble the defense a bit before 2 weeks of continuous work and the meat grinder portion of our schedule. Glad that our offense had the ability to step up and do what was asked of them for sure.

Ya, that's going to happen on occasion when you play that aggressive and leave guys on islands with elite WRs and a really good QB. I think one of them was confusion and one was a guy just getting beat.

..but that aggression prettty much took away their short pass game and run game. It also lead to them having to punt to us...which we in turn took the other way.

Also note that MIzz was a tad more agressive in trying to stop the run. We passed around it early til they got a bit winded and then we ground them and hit them with PA. It was a good job by the coaches.

Agreed... and we likely don't get burned more than once if our pass rush had been more effective. Didn't know for sure what was going on until after the game that quite so many guys were held out. Glad that the word seems to be everyone is back for Jacksonville other than Natrez though. We are currently last in the SEC in sacks... now I know our defensive scheme isn't really terribly focused on being an elite sack numbers team, but would hope that we find ourselves able to affect the QB a bit more going forward, particularly against Stidham.

Eason does not make either of those throws. Eason's attempt would look very similar to Lock's first attempt. overthrown by 5 yards.

Saw Roquan do that and I think it was Juwan Taylor who he got crossed up with. Does Natrez make that play? Not a knock on Taylor but just an experience thing and a good play call by Mizzou.
