My gut tells me he gets 15-20 carries a game at most, mainly because there is only one football and at least 2 other guys who could legitimately take some carries away (Sony and AJ). I don't expect anything from KM now or in the future, he ran scared last year and once you have the fear, its hard to get rid of it.

So, back to the question at hand. Does he get the carries or no?

No. If I'm wrong I'm wrong.

I doubt it, but if he had started all 13 games last year he would've had way more than 2000 IMO.

Yes.

One, he averaged 7 yards per carry last year. You don't back off of something like that when it's working. And two, we have a new QB.

It's Chubb or bust in 2015. We ride him to the promised land or to an injury. Let the chips fall where they may.............

No, I think we follow the same model we started last year. A dose of Chubb to start the game then share the carries half way through the second and most of the third. Then bring in a fresh Chuub in the 4th to wear people down for the win. Just like Clemson last year with Gurley.

I'm talking about early in the season when Gurley, Sony, and Chubb were healthy. We only leaned on Chubb because the other backs went down.

If he doesn't get hurt, he goes over 2000. Gurley would've if he wasn't suspended and then hurt

Also, expecting 7 YPC again is foolish.

I'm expecting 8.5. The OL is intact, excluding Andrews, and Chubb's gained experience, strength and speed.

I hope not.

It would be nice to have a deep passing game again. Here's hoping that Mitchell, Scott-Wesley, and McKenzie can do damage in their ways...and maybe Godwin too.

Let's get Sony healthy and use his skills too. And let Turman provide some relief. (Marshall...I'll believe it when I see him look like he did as a freshman). Keep these guys fresh! why rely on a guy for 30 carries a game unless you have to?

30 carries is a lot for normal backs. But, Chubbs isn't normal.

Feed him.

I think it all depends on the QB play...If ( Ramsey or Bauta ) are not capable of pressing the defense with the passing game...defenses will just stack the box...It won't work with weaker teams because our O line should be pretty dominate again this year... but against a good team's defense.... well... a good defense can usually take away one thing.... the run or the pass.... Lets just hope We will have some great QB play this year... that will open up the run game for Chubb and Company...

At 7.1 ypc he would need to avg 24 (rounded up) carries in a 12 game regular season. (To keep it real I didn't count post season games. Obviously another 2 or 3 games would lower that number.)

If he puts up stupid numbers versus our cupcake early games I think he could. The early season is stacked with (hopefully) snoozers: ULM, Vandy (please God, this should be a blow out) and Southern.

I personally love the style of football the Steelers played a few years ago. Control the clock with running, snap at :02 or so and brutal defense. The long ball to spice things up but not rely on. Kind of like how Bama beat us in the SECCG: no answer for the run and play action. That's how I remember it, anyway. You can feel the defense give up with a strong ground game (as a former ball carrier you can also feel the OL give up).

So, yes he will get the opportunity. Will he bust a few long carries against the little sisters? I don't know. If not, he won't get 2k.

I agree: Feed the beast! He's got the build and mentality for it.

Derrick Henry is a beast at 6-3, 242. Even Leonard Fournette at 6-1, 230 might warrant that label.

But can you really say that the 5-10, 220 lb Chubb has the build for 30 carries a game? I say keep him to 20 a game at most...less if Michel and Turman can be factors...

I disagree. If you look at car performance you look at HP to weight ratio. Chubb is 5" shorter than Derrick and 3" shorter than LF giving him a higher density. Less leverage can be applied to his limbs under heavy contact there for less damage can be inflicted. You can’t hurt a bowling ball yet big tall people can hurt their selves by just falling on their own.

Yeah. Because he did a bunch last year. But he won't need 30 carries per game to get 2000. If he gets 25 per game like most starters since Richt has been here he'll probably get there.
