With a lot of new poster/alter on the board Me thinks we need to know where everyone stands

option 1 option 2 option 3

Myself I fall in the Option 2. I always have hope for the dawgs but also feel there needs to be some sort of change in the way the coaches are doing business........ everything isnt the Magic Kingdom but its not TWD Atlanta either...

I'm an optimistic realist. I guess I'm option 2.

I like Richt and I like Bobo. I like the players and the talent we have.

I don't like Grantham and his pathetic defensive scheming. I don't like how we aren't effective on special teams and don't have a ST coach.

I'll give kudos where they are deserved and I'll criticize what I think should be criticized. Though I am extremely emotional about the Bulldogs, I try to assess the situation with reason.

There is a help board topic with BVD supporting it because I am not a Disney trying to ban me.

Basically if you choose anything missing a Mickey Mouse this cat and his Disney friends will try to have you banned.

Option 2

I’m a realist. While I hope for the best I understand what being a UGA Alumnus/Fan means. Frequent let-downs, good but not great teams, and the occasional big time win. We have been mired in a rut, save 2012, since we were preseason #1 in 2007. I’ve said it many times, we are a NFL Factory but an average College program.

I love Coach Richt, but I wish he’d retire. We need new blood in the program. Unfortunately, he has the proverbial life time contract because GM doesn’t have the balls to make a change.

It’s the nature of being a Dawgs fan. So close, but yet so far away. I am tired of people saying "wait until next season” or “UGA is a sleeping giant”. We are 2nd tier in our own conference, and not even a blip on the national radar. It’s embarrassing.

With that said, I love my school and I’ll always root hard for my team. But I reset my expectations, maybe you should too. Sorry for the novel

Go Dawgs

I'm a pessimistic realist, mainly cause I've been watching the SOS in one form or fashion for over 40 years(with one 4 year exception in the 80's). I'll give credit when due & criticize when I feel it's warranted...

2001-2007 Record - 72-19 (Seven Seasons)
Three SEC Championship appearances with two wins.
Two four loss or more seasons
Three BCS Bowl Games

2008 - 2013 Record - 52-25 (Last Six Seasons)
Two SEC Championship appearances with no wins.
Four four loss or more seasons
Zero BCS Bowl Games

quote:

If you think our coaches give us the best chance to win then by all means support them. If you don't. then by all means call for change. But don't think your opinion is the only right one & don't call out others for not agreeing with you... That's just bottom of the gene pool inbred ignorance.

Dallas, you're a wise man.

And I think we know what I am. Last night didn't change my mind all any game does is confirm it.

2. Richt needs a top notch DC next to him to go all the way. Martinez and Grantham have not been that.

Fats, I hear you, but is this just another excuse for Richt?

Is there a reason a top d coordinator won't take the job?

As for 1, 2 or 3. I choose 2.

Hard to say but I still believe we can win it all with him. He held on to Martinez for one year too long. I hope he doesn't make the same mistake with Grantham.

The reality is, there is no way Richt gets canned so we just need to accept it. There is a possibility that Grantham is shown the door. I think Chris Wilson could be an option. Have him as DC and DLine coach, hire a special teams coordinator with Grantham's vacant spot. None of that will happen though.

2...I get fired up early and drink the natty kool-aide thinking this could be "the year" only to have reality sink in after about game 3 and misplace my rose-colored glasses. I just wonder why we can't put it together on both sides of the ball in the same year. We're either dominating on O or dominating on D or neither. When will we dominate on both in the same year?!?!? Just frustrating. The tools are there but this staff just doesn't seem to be capable of consistently squeezing that next level of potential out of them.

Neither...I'm logical...the linear path UGA has been on and proceeds to follow is very clear to understand...trends repeat themselves over..and over..and over...and over...and over...and over...and over.. and over.

UGA's football program has severe issues. Top 3:

1. Find a competent DC. Grantham hasn't panned out, and he doesn't seem willing to fix the issues. This should be Richt's top priority.

2. Fix Special Teams. The current special teams setup isn't working. Period. I'm not saying we have to hire a dedicated coordinator, but we need to find a way to get better performance out of ST.

3. Re-evaluate Strength & Conditioning. I'm glad Richt values loyalty, but we shouldn't have any non-certified coaches making decisions in regards to S&C. We need a staff made up only of coaches with advanced degrees and Division 1 S&C experience. It's one of the most critical positions on the staff.

What type of fan does that make me? You tell me...

I'm right there with you. Unfortunately, I don't see any of those things being fixed anytime soon.
