I mean, he's only 21. He closed pretty dang well at the Australian Open and Tiger's tournament. It's just tough for guys like him and Justin Thomas who haven't been at the top as often. The best winners on tour are the guys who have been there most often.

Many young golfers have done just as well as Spieth...They just don't the attention since they aren't selected golden boy media darlings..

They've set him up to fail.

He's ranked 9th in the world at age 21, has a runner-up finish in a major, and 3 world-wide wins right now. I can't think of any other player right now near his age with similar accomplishments.

Spieth chipped in to win a tournament against a weak field where most of the PGA heavey hitters were already overseas for the Open Championship...

The media masterbates to this kid. And it's disgusting.

Henley, English, and Kirk just to name a few in his age range...have accomplished more but are basically invisible compared to the hype around golden boy.

I feel cheap picking now, but I would have said DJ. I'm rooting for Hahn though

If DJ pulls through only three tournaments back from hiatus, it could open the flood gates....

Dude is talented

I probably like and root for UGA golfers just as much as you do, but I don't necessarily agree with your assessment here. Henley and English have never even come close to a top 10 OWGR ranking. Zero out of the three guys you mentioned have a top 10 finish in a major, and Kirk is 29 so he doesn't really even belong in conversation with the other guys. The biggest issue with Henley and English is just their consistency. Spieth is commonly finishing with top 10s, whereas Henley and English are missing cuts or finishing at the bottom of the pack of people who miss cuts. If they can be more consistent they'll be top 20 golfers.

The media does love certain guys though. Justin Thomas is going to get the same love Spieth got. Probably with them both being only 21.

Let's try a different angle....

Forget age. How long has Speith been on the PGA tour compared to the others I mentioned?

I think age really matters, because if English or Henley could have played on the tour at 19, they would have. Spieth played through sponsors exemptions until the John Deere I believe so I guess he's been on tour for a year and a half.

DJ and Hahn. Unbelievable. That shot would have been impossible a couple hours ago, but the rain helped a ton.
