Yes. Lambert was bad. And yes, they took the intermediate passes away. Those were what Ole Miss used against them. Bama obviously saw that and worked on it for two weeks. Their secondary smothered our receivers. Now you know why Richt wanted another QB here so much.

Lambert did throw a pick at the end, for whatever it is worth. Under the right conditions Lambert can be an effective passer but to win a championship you need someone who can thrive under pressure and make gutsy plays. I think it is safe to say based on his limited sample at UGA that he is not that. The good news is that Eason is an early enrollee!

Lambert just has an avg arm. All his deep passes have way too much touch, which could cost us eventually. I have yet to see him send out a "lazer". The Oline was holding up well enough, but Lambert would get "happy feet" and move out of the pocket then it was all down hill for him. He could of stayed in the pocket an extra sec but chose to run instead.

quote:I wonder why Richt can't recruit better qbs? Murray was obviously going to be a 3-4 yr starter, but he never planned for his replacement. Mason? Ramsey? Park? Park was probably the best of the bunch, but Richt couldn't adjust his offense for a freshman qb when many many other programs have been able too.
Now you know why Richt wanted another QB here so much.
Now we are hoping J Eason is the answer, but he is still in high school and is unproven against real competition. The SEC is so much different than the west coast high school football. I think we are putting too much pressure on him already to do well his freshman and sophomore years.

Was Lambert really that bad today, or was there no separation with receivers. It looked to me like Alabama took the short routes out of the game. Lambert didn't throw any picks, and the first pass Ramsey throws downfield was an absolute joke.
IMO Lambert panicked. He needed to get in a rhythm early and Bama locked down our receivers. Throw in the wet conditions and our OL getting pushed around and he was done. So if you want to pass blame, you can point to our lack of a good QB, our OL shittingon itself, and our straight up lack of good receivers. Malcolm Mitchell is the only one that could hang with their DBs. Everyone else is either too young (Godwin), too short (iMac), or just not good enough.

Frm what Ive been told, Ramsey was a wing t qb in high school. He had a cannon arm but in the wing t you don't have to drop back and run through progresions to find the open receiver. There is only one or two options at the most and the play fakes in that offense keeps the defense tight and when you do throw you usually have an open receiver. It doesn't appear to me that Ramsey ever adjusted to having to sit in a pocket and make decisions. I see the same thing with Lambert. Too often he locks on one reciever and that's it.

Lambert was rattled. Some of the replays we had guys wide open but he was locked on throwing it to Mitchell. No screens for Michel or McKenzie. Infuriates me that we didn't try to get McKenzie involved.

Careful now. I posed this same question a couple of weeks ago and was taken to the woodshed by just about everyone.
Stafford was our best QB (they say) and we were still 30-9 with him.

I think Lambert was nervous,
Lambert looked like someone was coming after him with a gun. He looked exactly how you would expect Virginia's second string QB to look against Bama.

It is truly staggering that people still let you post here. Richt is the best QB coach of the last 2 decades you fricking dolt. I bet 2 weeks ago you were up lambert's arse for his SC performace...now richt can't recruit QBs. You're even worse than phan, at least he's an opposing fan. You are (allegedly) a georgia fan who can't say a damn thing positive about "your" team and haven't since you joined. Youv'e done nothing but be negative the ENTIRE time youv'e posted. frick you.

I'll tell what is going to be worse. We beat UT, just say we will what the hell. LSU beats Fla. We roll into Jville with the east on the line and the knowledge that if Fla beats us that pretty much sews up the East for them.
They do beat us and win the east with their 1st year coach against our coach of 15 years who is now dean of the SEC coaches as judged by tenure only (obviously).
That would be worse.

I'm not sure why people are getting so pissed considering in the preseason most of our fans predicted something along the lines of 9-3.
I mean, did they expect us to acquire 3 losses without actually have to lose any ballgames?

I'm not really pissed simply that we lost because I mean it's Alabama and they're a really good team, but I am kind of pissed about the way we lost. I'm still thinking we finish around 9-3, with one more loss coming to a good team and another coming out of nowhere.

I'm pissed at how it went down too...we looked like garbage. It shouldn't have been that lopsided.
But the people calling for us to fire everyone are the same ones that predicted us to lose 3 games just 2 months ago...I mean what did they expect? We have to get those losses somehow.
Newsflash: we're almost surely going to lose another game this year. Expect it, prepare for it. But I'm sure as soon as it happens people will be claiming we should fire richt again.
I hate people.

The Bama defensive line was 3 yards into our backfield pushing our O-line back on every pass play. Lambert didn't have room or time to throw.
The big push by Bama's Oline wouldn't have been such a huge problem if our QB would take deeper drop-backs. Today I was watching how deep Matt Ryan was dropping to avoid Houston's rush and the deep drops were very effective. Lambert needs to get away from the rush because he has no clue how to move in the pocket.

Yep. We lost by FOUR TDs to a team 3/4 in here thought we'd beat by 10 points. It was as bad as the humiliation last year to Flarder.

Kublanow is now questionable for the game vs Tennessee. I know they put Long at center vs Bama when he went out, any other options this week though? Because that is bad bad news.
