That he is one hell of a coach against weaker talent?

Lost to all 3 teams with a pulse that we played this year.

I'll wait and see who we hire before freaking out but you really can't blame Smart for mostly cleaning house. He obviously has an idea of how he wants things to be and he needs to have all the coaches on board with that.

He's thinking "Pruitt's a prick and I don't need the headache." This will be Pruitt's 3rd DC job in 4 years

Confirmed- Smart didn't want him.

No idea how you can't comprehend it.

Wait until Pruitt sees the size of the Saban swinging dick GIF. Won't be the pushover Richt was. I know he was there before, but still it will be different.

Goddam. I hoped that with Richt gone, a lot of the negativity-mongering would go with him. Should have known better.

Can the Pruitt fanboys really not imagine why Kirby might not want to retain him?

I really really like Pruitt, but I think Smart wants to run the defense his way. I would be happier if he stayed obviously, but you have to let the head coach bring in his guys. Hopefully with our new defense we at least learn how to set the edge (which was always a problem with Pruitt's defenses IMO).

#1 overall pass defense for a position group he himself coached. That particular position group has a walk-on as a starter (Davis) and 2 guys no one wanted (Sanders and Mauger). I'd say that's a pretty damn good coaching job, also considering we basically had a bunch of true freshman as their backups.

#2 I can't comprehend it because with both Pruitt and Smart as coaches, we could have basically picked and choosed whoever we wanted to come to UGA. Not sure why you wouldn't want to keep the guy who could make that happen.

In conclusion, you're a fricking idiot if you aren't mad we didn't keep Pruitt

If we had kept him, what would you have chosen to bitch about? Because we know it would be something.

So in parting, Pruitt doesn't just leave but tells the players he really wanted to stay. More bs and turmoil creating actions from Pruitt. I'm glad he's gone.

Time to move on I guess. Anxiously waiting on some hires.

Insiders have spoken about his issues. It's pretty common knowledge that he was unruly and not just toward the administration. He was like that with other coaches as well. He landed a great job at Bama but he would have never been retained by UGA.

He's a good coach but if Kirby felt like he was going to cause too much commotion and rock the boat too much then he needed to go. Also we don't know what CKS may know about anything Pruitt did while he's been here that may make him shy away from retaining him.

FWIW...Crow hit the nail on the head yesterday with this comment...

This is why he's gone IMO & it makes perfect sense...

I think Pruitt has likely been too powerful of a force for change to stay on with a new staff, in a way. He has to go for the same reasons that he was so good for Georgia.

If Smart and Pruitt butt heads (inevitable with Pruitt), where do the players' loyalties lie? A first-time HC who's trying to create a new culture needs a clear chain of command imo.

If you pray for rain, you have to deal with the mud too.

This is Kirby's team now and I am fully on board with his decisions regarding staff members.
