Last year we were solidly on the bubble for most of the way down the backstretch before playing our way into the tournament as a 10 seed with a 21-11 record. Below is how we stack up This Season (TS) to last (LS) at randomly picked intervals.

Non-Con slate
LS: 9-3
TS: 7-3

LS had a poor loss to tech and respectable losses to gonzaga and minnesota. TS had a bad loss to chattanooga and idk much about how good SH and KSU are.

1st 5 SEC
LS: 3-2
TS: 2-3

LS- losses to Ark and LSU, wins against vandy, UF, OM.
TS- losses to UF, OM, aTm, wins against mizz, UT

through 10 SEC
LS: 6-4
TS: 6-4

This year's SC win looks to be the best between the 2 groups. Also at this point, we are currently 13-8 while last year were 15-7. Our RPI shoudl be pretty good but it hurts not having a few more wins.

Remaining schedule after 10 SEC games
LS: @atm, AU, SC, @bama, @OM, Mizz, UK, @AU
TS: @UK, @msu, UF, @van, @au, OM, @SC, bama

Last season inexplicably dropped home games to AU and SC, but then beat bama and OM on the road to cancel out. They finished 11-7. Also note they won 1 game in the SECT.

TS has 2 games that are most likely probable losses, with 6 tossups.

I had said the entire offseason I thought the losses would be a bit much to overcome, and that we'd miss the tourney but be solidly in for the NIT. As of now I still feel that way. Some of the new guys have done better than I thought but the holes left by marcus and nemi are pretty stout. My hope is that we can break serve so to speak and steal a game or two that we shouldn't win to get us back on teh right side of things.

Freshmen need to nut up and start playing like they're experienced (which they all are at this point).

We can go on a little run but no matter what happens it's going to suck to look back on the opportunities we had to win against LSU, OM, and Chattanooga to put us in a completely different position than we're in right now.

I force myself not to think that way, nothing good comes from it. On the flip side, think about where we'd be right now without pretty solid wins against oakland, clemson, UT, Ark, and SC.

edwards and EW eating into kessler's minutes is only going to help us. ME/EW seem to be getting a bit more lately and HK seems to be gettign less. HK should never be playing more than 5 minutes in an SEC game. I hate ripping on our guys and have gotten physical at basketball games wtih people who have, but HK really just does not help us win games. If his name wasn't kessler I really wonder how many minutes he'd be getting...if any. Hell, connor o'neils drive that sent him to the FT line was more aggressive than I've seen HK attack the rim all season.

Nice comparison. Seem like 2 similar teams in terms of overall strength. My view of Fox is that he is a good coach doing more with less but he needs to recruit better in-state if he's ever going to change the "less" perception.
