Has a team on a four game losing streak vs. FBS teams ever been ranked this well?
Obviously that was last season but I'd be shocked if there has ever been another instance of this. I just don't see it for Auburn. 9-3 is their ceiling IMO.

It boggles my mind that so-called experts can rank Notre Dame so highly every year. They are top 15 literally every single year, and have only lived up to it once since 2005.
Seriously - does that just reflect the age of most of the voters? It was the same with FSU but FSU ended up recapturing some former glory so it doesn't look as bad.

The Irish don't schedule cupcakes though, do they? If that's the case, it's a pretty balls-out way to go through the season.
Granted, I think it's horseshite that they're not flirting with the B1G. They've got no business in the ACC.

I predicted 9 in Jeff's prediction thread
What do I win?

I think 9 is a great starting point. I think we're a top 10 team potentially, but not top 5 at the moment. Too many unknowns

Yeah, notre dame has a ridiculous schedule.
Stanford
Clemson
USC
texas
Georgia Tech
Navy (dupposedly navy will turn many heads this year)
They have a couple of easy games.
UMass
BC
Wake Forest

Yes! I'll take it.

I thought 10-12 would be fair. QB is a huge question and DL is still a bit of an unknown, but solid everywhere else. But yeah I like 9.
1 plays 6
2 plays 4
5 plays 6 and 10
8 plays 12 and 17
3 plays 7 and us
Couple tough matchups for those ahead. As long as we take care of business the path will clear itself out.

I am actually shocked. I believe we are a top 5 and can play with anyone. But the coaches poll is usually not kind to us (and the Ole Ball Sack never ranks us high because that is how petty he is).
Personally, I believe us to be better than Auburn and FSU. On the flip side, I would be scared to play ND. I hate ND, by the way and do not follow them, but based on what I have heard on the radio, they are strong and deep. As mentioned up above, the schedule is tough for them to run, but in a single game, I am glad we don't play them (at least not until the playoffs).
I also love that the coaches ranked UT appropriately and didn't all go in to the UT is back hype.

I'm good with 9...hell id be good with 14....I don't like hitting the season with too much hype or expectation...see 2008

Just being honest WG-Dawg. I don't follow them as I hate them more than any team other than UF. But some of the analysts on the radio that I listen to often seem to think they are better than OSU.
Thanks for restating my post. Not that there was any point made.

I just thought it was rather humorous that you would be scared to play a team that you admittedly know nothing about, other than what you've heard from the radio. That's all.

8 SEC teams in the top 25 sound about right!
Posted on 7/30/15 at 11:38 am to WG_Dawg
Well, those guys study and know a lot more about ND than I do. So I think it's as good of information as any you have on any other team other than UGA. I do believe most of our information comes from the media. Maybe you visit and investigate each team personally; I don't. But this thread is not about ND. So in response to this and your future digs...whatever.

At least there is this...
OVER-RANKED:
1. No. 9 Georgia. Let's ignore the idea that No. 23 Missouri has won the past two Southeastern Conference East Division titles yet still sit 14 slots behind the Bulldogs. Georgia finds itself in the top 10 despite suffering from the same problem plaguing LSU: a lack of a proven quarterback. Despite all that other talent that surrounds that position, it's difficult to envision a scenario where the Bulldogs justify this preseason ranking without steady play under center. Not to mention another idea to consider: Georgia hasn't matched its preseason hype in at least three seasons.

yes let's do, since last year is wholly irrelevant for this year, plus we beat them by 34. Good idea.

Yet we have a better defense, return 4 OL starters, the best RB in the league, and aren't breaking in a new DC.

What if we do get steady play? It's not like we're ranked 1st...we gotta start somewhere.

for starters, once again...what happened 3 years ago is irrelevant. But just to humor the journalist that wrote this:
2012: preseason 6, postsesason 5
2013: way way underachieved, but we all know why
2014: preseason 12, postseason 9
It's like this was written by someone with no knowledge of football whatsoever.
