Was just listening to College Football station on SXM radio. CN just talked about his recent visit to UGA and his take on the Bulldogs. He is very "long" on UGA this season. Thinks we are the clear favorite to win the East. Says Tennessee and South Carolina are the next two.

Lambert - NFL talent on out routes. Very tall. Plays with command.

WRs - Mitchell looks 100%. Thinks "the freshman, #5" is an amazing athlete with great capabilities. Then he goes back and says remember the name Terry GODwin.

commented on our defense about the strengths of the LB corps. Doesn't think our secondary looked solid, but said they were young and athletic and think they will definitely come around. Said we also have 13 freshman on our 22 deep defense...wasn't sure about that.

Says if South Carolina gets play out of their QB, they could give us a run. Apparently USCe lost 3 games when leading by 12 or more in the 2nd half to SEC teams....if they win those 3, they would have been in the SECCG.

Obviously went on about the RBs. Said Marshall looked scary good considering his injury in the past. Michel was explosive and Chubb "looks even better, if that's possible to believe."

This is mostly all good news. We have heard that Chubb has a great work ethic (HW himself said it on a SECN joint interview). Hard work pays off - I wouldn't be surprised if he is better.
As for the D backfield I have confidence in CJPs ability to coach that young group up - he's picked most of these guys himself.

I sincerely hope Marshall is back to where he was in 2012. Seeing him play last year was disheartening

It all sounds pretty positive. I love the thought of having a three headed monster in the backfield. Plus ROWK, Turman, and TC... Sounds like a fourth quarter freight train to me if our line play holds up.

He didn't mention the DLine? That's a bit concerning...

And I do wonder how USCe is going to do given the key personnel losses on both sides of the ball. Color me skeptical.

he did not mention the DL. I forgot, he did give a shout out to Reggie Davis. Said he really liked that kid

"I would not be surprised if Greyson Lambert is the SEC Player of the Year on offense." - Rick Neuheisel

This may be old news but this was the first time I heard him say it about 20 mins ago on XM.

Why was it such a competition? Are the other two that good? Is Neuheisel puffing some Colorado herb he stashed away?

Pardon the gulp, gulp, gulp....just chugging my red glass of Kool Aid after hearing that.

They did lose some guys at key positions, but they also return a few really good players and added some talented JUCO Dlinemen. It wouldn't surprise me if they pushed for 2nd in the East this year. Personally, I think 8-4 and 3rd or 4th in the East is more likely.

Serious question...what do they have going for them on offense besides Pharaoh Cooper? I know they lost Thompson, Davis, and a lineman or two, but who did they get or already have to plug those holes?

Brandon Wilds is likely to be just as, if not more effective than Mike Davis last year. Their OL returns a multi-year starter who missed all of last year with an injury, a guy who might be their best OL this year. QB and WR's outside of Cooper are an absolute question mark, but they should be solid at RB and TE, and pretty good at OL. Defensively, I think their DL will be improved, but it's hard to tell how much. LBs will be solid again. If the DL can develop a decent pass rush then the DBs will be helped out a lot. Really hard to tell how good the D will be until actual games are played. I think that, overall, they'll be better than last year.

I think it was more of Ramsey actually being super talented and Richt's guy for a few years. I think that got him the benefit of the doubt and if it was Bobo still he may be starting. Greyson had ground to make up from the get go and when he did make it up, it made it a very tight race.

Neuheisel also said several times that GL looked like Joe Flacco out there. Now, I don't know if that meant that he looked like Flacco while he was throwing the tight outs and delivering them on the money 38-30 times...

...or, if he looked like Flacco throwing a shitload of regular season INT's.

or both

I posted this yesterday and I found it interesting that he made those comments then later in the day Lambert is named the SQB. He said with the running game and Lamberts ability to throw the out the offense could control the field.

Well I hope we make up ground and delivery much better competition than we did last year. I still feel like that game had some crazy Voodoo type shite all over it. Rain, Game Delay, Bad Penalties/calls, etc.

Thanks for the insight Crispy...

It's definitely a game we should win. I think we're improved a good bit over last year (more so than USC is), and it's Connor Mitch's first true road game. Hopefully home field plays a huge part in shaking him up a good bit. Honestly, I think the game hinges on our front 7 being able to stuff the run.

It's always something with USCe...and it isn't one sided. I.E. Pollack's play in the end zone, Melvin Ingram's fake punt, First and goal on the 4 and our kicker who hadn't missed in God knows how many tries missing a 24 yarder to tie.

People talk about handling them every year and no matter what that game always keeps me up at night. Worst part is my Old Man is a 'Cock and every time we shite the bed I hear about it for 364 days...FML

Their Offense is coached by Spurrier....

That should be enough to take them seriously...

Exactly. This whole announcement reeks of a carefully prepared PR campaign, and I am always suspicious of those. Also, I have a hard time trusting a guy whose nickname was "The Weasel".

That said, I really do hope Lambert is a great QB for UGA. However, I have finally learned my lesson and want the team to show me before I commit to hyperbole. Besides, there is a whole lotta difference between a statuesque guy looking All Pro in drills and taking on the full SEC rush without making stupid decisions.

I wish he would he specified and said Playoff Joe Flacco. Flacco morphs into a completely different QB in the playoffs. That game he had a few years back (2012) in Denver when it was about 7 degrees out was unreal.

If Lambert turns out to be that good, I would be ecstatic.
