after completing PDP

Georgia wide receiver Riley Ridley will enter a pretrial diversion program for his March 11 arrest on a misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana of less than an ounce, his attorney said Wednesday.

He can be counseled on the evils of Satan's Herb and the dark path down which it leads.

Will he still be suspended?

I think he fessed up to it. In which case, yes, he'll be suspended.

I would say yes. He still broke UGA code of conduct

Out of curiosity...what would happen if this happened to a regular student? Seems unfair to suspend an athlete from athletic competition for something that if a regular student did, nothing would happen past the legal issue.

Sounds like he's going through the same pretrial diversion program Rochester went through for his felony charges last year. That makes me more hopeful that he'd be able to play but at the same time we are talking about a very small amount of weed possessed by a UGA foosball player so who knows.

Hard to complain, then, I guess. As long as there is some consistency involved.

Thanks for your answer.

How did they know? Are they actively cross referencing police blotters with student lists?

They aren't the same.....they don't represent UGA the same....they aren't afforded the same by the university....they SHOULD be treated different, because they are different.

And just an FYI - if you are a regular student caught with weed in the dorm room, you are arrested and are 1 step away from suspension from the university and kicked out of student housing.
