I'm so used to seeing the more stocky bulldog it's going to be wierd if they go to these changes I'm all for it if it increases there lifespan.

I had always thought that the dogs looked really different than Uga I. I don't care what that scientist said, it can't be healthy if appearance is changing that much and they're living shorter and shorter lives.

it will be a change, but a much needed one. The current breed is an un-natural mutant that as the article states wouldn't be able to survive or procreate on its own without a ton of human intervention. Let the bulldog go back to being a bulldog. Lean, mean, and tough.

Just saw this comment on Reddit...

If there is an activity at which bulldogs excel, it is that which takes place lying down.

The symbolism here stings.

Hopefully they don't look too different but I'm glad they are addressing the health issues.

They will look lot different....however it will be years before you see a dramatic change. You might not even notice it, it will come so slowly. (Guesses)

And, as stated above, it will be MUCH better for the dogs. Imagine if you had a hard time standing, could barely breathe, and temperatures above 75 degrees became intolerable to you. Not a very good life, no matter how cushy people try to make it.

why is that? I think they have done a great job, and the fact that he is willing to make a change to the breed for the better, and not just for the sake of Georgia only, I think is a good thing.

I would like to see the result of breeding Que to a female Argentine Dogo. I bet that would be a cool looking pup.

How do the people in Alabama still walk and breathe?

Maybe as the UGA line changes to a more healthy dog, we can change the UGA mascot logo too.
