Mentioned this in the SECr thread about this, but I think the biggest issue here with the scholarship is that if a WO is given a scholarship in the first 2 years on campus, they have to count toward the 25 initial signee limits. No way giving RB a scholarship now vs. the fall is worth that hit. Hope we are able to give him the scholly in Fall. I do think he deserves it after coming around this year but I also think we need to be pursuing someone who can handle KO duties.

Beyond all the inappropriate shite his dad said, I think he has earned a scholarship.

I've said as much myself. I don't think he's earned the right to handcuff our recruiting though. Thus I've said the best alternative given NCAA regs is that he should be first on the list for Fall schollys (ahead of Frix's scholly renewal).

Dear Bulldog Nation, It is of the opinion of many of you that my performance this season has justified that I be placed on scholarship. It is of the opinion of many of you that my performance this season failed to justify a scholarship. My opinion of whether or not I feel a scholarship is warranted is rather irrelevant, therefore I will not voice my opinion on the matter. Georgia deserves the best players it can possibly find at every position and in order for this program to regain the national notoriety and respect that it so rightfully deserves, the program demands production short of impeccable.

It is evident Georgia deserved better than what I was able to offer this season, and I would like to apologize for my clearly-defined deficiencies. I would also like to apologize for my father’s interactions with the media this season. He acted without my knowledge each time, and each incident was uncalled for.

I have received unwavering encouragement as well s my fair share of “constructive criticism from all of you this season and I hope that I will be fortunate enough to continue to receive support from the best fan base in the nation as we progress into the offseason and on into the next season. I hope that through this offseason I will develop into the kicker that Georgia expects of me. I love the University of Georgia with everything that I have to offer, and I will continue to grind and work to become the athlete that the team deserves in order to be as successful as possible.

I appreciate the love and affection that I have come across throughout the course of this past season, and I hope that I can continue to earn everybody’s trust and patronage as we move forward.

Sincerely, The Kicker.

I really do feel bad for him but don't think Smart has a ton of options, at least in the near future.

Just because he's not on scholarship doesn't mean he's not benefiting. Just think of the poon a starting kicker gets.

That took some balls and was well said to wit. Got a lot of respect for roddy after that; handled this situation like a man.

Really did. I wasn't sure if there was any way he could have actually handled that and come out looking alright but I'll be damned if he didnt do it.

I was just saying that it's even funnier cause his kid sucked too and the stats he has clearly made up for him are literally impossible

I know. When he said he was only "dispossessed" like twice the entire year I was like......NAH!!!!! Does "Legatron" walk on water as well because if not he should be able too.

You are telling me he wasn't tackled and lost the ball pretty much the entire season? I mean Messi is the greatest player around and even he gets tackled and loses possession every game.

I don't know the family's financial situation but I will say this , Roddy is the only player at the Dawg Walk without a suit and tie. The kids clothes look like they come from Good-Will. The dad is a nut, but I'm really pulling for this kid.

Hot Rod deserves a scholarship but UGA is in a tough situation with all of the recruits coming in and we need every one we can spare. I have no doubt he gets one in the fall.

Can he get a scholarship for the spring semester from a sympathetic donor?

The best kickoff kicker in the country in distance per kick is Pinerio at Florida, at 64.79 ypk.
But, he is only 7th in the country in touchbacks, so distance isn't everything.
Ir Rod can be coached into another 1/2 seconds in hang time his touchbacks and return yards average would improve greatly.

Speaking of earning their scholarships, sounds like it's time Graduate Assistant Kevin Butler makes his Master's worth it, and get Specs that extra half second.
