I really hope he performs well. I don't see any advantage to starting Lambert. Eason is 100% capable of completing the screens and short route throws Greyson made last year. A little early experience for 10 can only benefit us going forward. What is there to gain with GL?

I just hope our staff makes the right decision for Eason... Remember.... He is not as polished as Stafford was coming into college football.... and Stafford struggled greatly.... But Chaney seems to be able to mold QBs pretty quick.... Just have to trust Kirby and company in the long run.... I want Eason to be all he can be asap.... but I also do not want to ruin him...

Do you have ANY idea how complex college football defenses are? Have you not heard the reports of Eason forcing too many throws and throwing picks? Combine those for a true freshman... Look, we all fricking hope he is the next Peyton, but calm the frick down. Lambert didn't lose any games last year...didn't necessarily win them, but did enough.

Eason isn't going to learn anything sitting on the bench. The UNC game isn't as crucial compared to conference games. I have confidence that the Dawgs will beat UNC with Eason at QB.

Eason is not going to start nor should he.

Lambert has seen UNC twice, won ten games last year, and is s senior. He's gonna get the nod.

Simmer Down y'all.

There's still 2 weeks left. Seems like this next step is pretty easy to predict...... Ramsey will be out of the picture come monday, and Eason and Lambert continue the battle. And we won't know jack shite about who the eventual starter will be other than that.

If we somehow did get an announcement though, it could only either be insanely good news or real shitty news. Because if Eason wins the job at this point, he may be as good as advertised, but if he doesn't get the job this far out, then he is struggling worse than anticipated.

That doesn't mean anything if all he's gonna do is take sacks, throw the ball away and refuse to throw the ball more than 10 yards down field, all of which have been the common themes of his practice reports lately.

This is definitely an indictment of Lambert's ability to take control of a team he started 12 games for, last year.

Can you provide a link saying such?

Everything I've read your above post sounds like Eason.

No, they're posts from an insider board that multiple people confirmed.

What? Eason's main problem (according to what we've heard) is forcing throws downfield and taking too many risks, not holding on too the ball forever and getting happy feet.

Kinda feel bad for the kid, he could have left the minute they brought in Lambert, and started somewhere else, but chose to stick it out regardless. DGD in my book.

I have an insiders account and I haven't read anything saying that about Lambert. I want Eason to be the next coming of Christ as much as the next guy, but he comes from a state that doesn't necessarily have premium high school football and he's never seen defenses as fast and as complex as the ones he's about to see, including UNC. A lit of ppl are assuming that just throwing him out there is the answer.

Well I have, post by Dasher about scrimmage last week: "no picks for Lambert but did not throw ball downfield and took too many sacks and throwaways." Posters at the scrimmage were all saying he took about 6 sacks in 15 pass attempts and the rest were throwaways/checkdowns.

He's been practicing with SEC players for 8 months now so I'm sure he's adjusted some. There is certainly a difference between practice speed and game speed but let's not act like the game against UNC will be the first time he's gone against a fast and complex defense.

Everybody who I've seen say they want him to start, say that with the understanding that they know there will be growing pains and freshman mistakes that we'll have to deal with. I don't think any reasonable people are assuming that he'll just throw for 30 TDs and 3 ints his first year, but rather that he'll learn and grow so that when he's a Sophomore or Junior he'll be prepared to do something special.

Has anyone considered the possibility that Lambert might be better in Chaney's offense. I for one hope he starts because he's probably going to be a little bit better this year and he won a lot of games for us last year. If Chubb doesn't get injured against Tennessee, that team probably wins 11 games last year!

Give me the experienced Senior who's gonna get in the right plays and make the right reads. Lambert is a smart kid and that's far more important to the position than pure arm talent.

Lambert gives us the best chance to beat UNC. Let Eason start game two.

As mediocre as Lambert was last season, he didn't cost us any games.

Let's slow down there, he didn't do anything to win us games last year, he just tried his best not to lose us the game and prayed the defense would bail him out. Have people really forgotten that he was the QB of an offense who didn't score a TD for a 10 quarter stretch of the season (He contributed to 6 of those quarters, but still), only able to put up 17 points at home in regulation against GSU, 13 points against GT? Not to mention he got benched for Bauta at one point and by the end of the year a WR (Godwin) was our best QB even though he only threw one pass the entire year.

Chances we go into the dome without a starter having already been named?
