What has happened to our 5 star recruit? Now in his redshirt sophomore year you'd expect him to be playing.

He seemed to be doing well in Fall camp but has all but disappeared from mention since.

Wasn't a 5 star and he's a redshirt freshman.

He's teetering on the bust category.Even as a four star
he should be making somewhat of a dent on the depth chart or getting some significant snaps by now.

He got 10 snaps (15% of total) against App State and he's on the punt team.

Not every 4* recruit is able to just step in and start right away. It takes time to develop them and you're being too impatient.
At least 2 spots on the OL will be up for grabs next year and he should be able to compete for one of them.

Who said that? He'll be going into his 3rd year on campus this winter and it's not unreasonable to expect him to get some significant snaps at least by the last 3rd of the season.

Wonder why he is having trouble getting playing time at guard, I understand he played DL in high school and transitioning to tackle in the SEC is probably the hardest job in CFB, not crapping on the position bc I played it in high school but to me guard would seem to be a easier transition. I wonder if his height has something to do with it having trouble keeping the correct pad level, or if he is still to stiff to play the position, really hope he can pull trough and earn him a spot. Seems to be a great kid, if he can earn a spot that OL looks a lot bettter and tougher to an opponent when they break the huddle and walk up to the LOS. The one I'm disappointed in is Madden, was so excited when he came on board bc he was a monster but it seems his opportunity has come and passed

Um yes,he enrolled early.So this
next semester will be his 3rd on campus.
Wow,that hard to figure out?

Is it hard to figure out that he hardly played OL in high school? He's basically learning the position now. If he doesn't play significant minutes next year maybe you can call him a bust.

Just curious, but when we signed him and he came in for Spring ball, did y'all think he would be buried in the depth chart at this point of his career? My recollection was most thought he would contend as a true Freshman.

Did Isaiah Thomas play against Notre Dame?

Honestly, I thought he would contend early. But, in my defense, I didn't realize that he played more defense than offense in high school. We signed him as a 4* OT so I assumed he was just that, not a developmental OT.

It's my understanding that OL is one of those positions where you should be pleasantly surprised to see ANYONE get PT before their 3rd year. Historically, that's the way it always was, and for that, it's why the Big Ten OLs were so stout. Didn't there used to be a mandatory RS year for incoming students there, at one point?

No but we had a true freshman, rfreshman and a converted D lineman starting who BTW didn't play much oline in HS as far as I know.

I think most thought he would be in the mix by now but OL recruiting like AT and IW has filled some spots in front of him
