according to 247 in a free article (can't link, on phone right now).

Hines Ward is out of the question, who do we fill in at WR now?

How is this guy?

I always heard rumors that Hines Ward wanted to come and coach at UGA any truth?

he may have an interest, but is he qualified? Simply being a former player doesn't make one cut out to coach.

At the pro level. He's stated to people close to him that he's not sure if he wants to 24/7 grind of college coaching/recruiting. He's getting a salary right now as analyst that UGA will be hard pressed to match.

Very good at developing players, don't count on much on the recruiting trail, though. I really like him, it's a good hire for y'all.

That's the thing a lot of people don't consider. The coaching aspect is one thing on its own. Recruiting is a whole other full time job on top of that and it's not something you just jump into and go full speed at.

He is a good coach really. It took a while for some of the players to get used to his cross dressing. To his credit, he has slept with a few players fathers on the recruiting trail, but has never attempted to have sex with a player he is recrutiing. The charges for the Mall bathroom incident were dropped, though some of the other men in the stall with him did get felony Sodomy charges. DFCS let him have 4 of the 17 boys he had living with him come back as they could not prove the child prostitution ring was his idea. He is a stickler for kids running the correct routes and really focuses on body mechanics and hand-eye coordination training. We will miss him for sure. Shoud be a good fit for y'all.

I could have sworn DFCS only let 2 of the boys come back, didn't realize it was 4. At any rate LSU guy, the rest of Peter's post is pretty accurate. We basically just learned to deal with his, how you say...eccentricities over time. I'm sure once the initial feeling out process passes you'll be pleased with tony.

My concern here is that people are clamoring for a recruiter and not much of a coach. I think you need someone who is good at both being a coach and a recruiter.

I remember the years before Ball where our WR's would drop a anything thrown at them. That has since changed. I don't want to go back down that road so I'm hoping for someone that is good at recruiting and coaching.

Don't think anyone disagrees, but there's no reason UGA can't have both.

I know people say he can't recruit, but he singlehandedly lead the charge for UGA to ID and get committments from younger players. These days, if you offer a kid at the beginning of his Senoir year... you are too late. He has spent a lot of time recruiting at the Elementry and JR High level. Going to Church Youth group sleepovers to recruit is something he pioneered. I understand Bawl even spends time at area YMCAs looking for the next Herschal.
