Football may be getting back on track but we have been irrelevant as a program since 2012 pretty much.
Our basketball program is mediocre and the head coach is a going to be fired within 2 years
The baseball program is a fricking joke right now with a head coach who will be fired at the end of the year
Women's basketball is at the lowest point its been in awhile.
Gymnastics is barely over .500.
UGA softball is decent.
UGA soccer is 11th in the SEC.
I think we still have some good competitors in swimming/track and field but we haven't won team national titles in that in awhile.
Equestrian is still pretty good.

I was talking about this the other day. The answer is yes, yes they are, and it's not getting better anytime soon.

At least we have a nice rainy day fund.

Let's not get into the reserve fund issue because we really have no clue what it is. It may not be money which the UGA athletic Department can legally touch for a number of reasons.

Yeah no way a lack of monetary commitment could correlate to a lack of success, so it probably would be best to ignore the 80 million or so that we're sitting on.

I sure fricking hope so because it would be absolutely inexcusable to be any worse given our in-state talent pool in all sports and the Scrooge McDuck swimming pool of gold we have in the super secret back room of Butts-Mehre

I mean, no offense but do you have any clue what you're talking about? Cause I think you're making several unlikely assumptions.

I understand we have to keep a certain amount of funds "untouchable" but you aren't paying attention if you think ADGM is doing all he can from a spending perspective to put us in a position to have real success across the board in athletics. Saving an extra dollar by hiring unproven/small program coaches and not keeping up with much of the SEC in the facility race has put us in this position, unless you can point to something else as the cause.

Yes. We are not nationally competitive in 2 out of the 3 top sports, football, basketball and baseball. The football program is looking better but we haven't won an SECC in football since 2005 and haven't won the East division since 2012.

Oh I agree. I am happy to see GM fired and bring in a hungry, ambitious AD.
I just think bringing up the reserve fund is counter-productive and confuses people.

From the 2016-2017 results, we were not competitive in 3 of the 3 big sports. I understand it was a transition year and we played a LOT of freshmen, but 7-5 with a bowl win against TCU is not "nationally competitive".
I think most of us expect far better results and to be nationally competitive this upcoming season, though.

2009 and 2010 were pretty bad with the major sports

If the football program doesn't get on track, McGarity will be the worst AD in UGA history

So you're suggesting that if we spend all that money and the AD goes into massive debt spending on facilities, that suddenly all of our athletic programs would suddenly be great? I'm afraid it's not quite that simple. I wish it was.
Yes, the AD at UGA cut corners and got way behind many of our competitors in the football facilities arm race . I'm not sure you can say that about many of the other programs.

Baseball and basketball stadiums beg to differ. And I love Stegman.

Pretty sure he's not advocating going into debt you dipshit.

What makes it worse is dawgnation is willing to donate to make our athletics better, they just don't feel like McGarity has a master plan.

Some dude has been summoning pairs of animals to a big wooden thing near Stegeman. I'm sure it's nothing important.
