Are Dawg Fans Becoming Apathetic?

There was a lot of noise in the stadium today but afterwards people seemed pretty numb. Are we getting used to being non-contenders? I remember a time when Dawg fans would be full of piss and vinegar after losing like we lost today, to anybody, let alone Tech.

That game killed a lot of my enthusiasm for UGA football. I kind of figured that if we didn't win that game, it would never happen in my lifetime

So what do we do? The people who got all pissed and wanted Richt fired got their wish.
Like I'm pissed but I'm not going to call for a huge regime change on a first year coach. And before everyone jumps on Chaney, he still needs another year. Look what happened with Shanahan in Atlanta this year...everyone wanted him fired because he couldn't call plays last year, this year he has the best offense in the league.

What choice do we have?? Come from ahead moral victories and total meltdowns are pretty much routine

We have systemic problem in the entire program. Winning championships is just not important. Building a big Hartman fund is the main concern and maintaining the course.

I don't know about the rest of you....but I kicked a few trees at the Xmas tree lot while the staff wasn't looking.

Hard to get too upset when a first year coach with a first year QB perform almost exactly as expected... shrug

Yep,I know we've opened up the purse strings more for KS than CMR but the penny pinching culture still remains in place.

Well, when half the fanbase pitches a hissy fit anytime you criticize the coach, you sort of promote apathy.

It's not criticism. It's the mouth breathers on this forum talking about how Kirby deserves to be fired after year three before year two has even started.
Kirby performed about as well as expected, and if you expected any more than 8 wins this season, you are delusional.

Freshman quarterback and lack of elite offensive linemen...yeah...yada yada yada. We also had a lot of folks back on defense and some weapons on offense (stable of great TE's, two All SEC caliber running backs).
A great coach may have been able to do more with less. Kirby did less with less.
Maybe we'll see something "click" next season but so far, Smart has not shown himself to be a particularly bright coach. Certainly isn't going to be up for any awards for maximizing what we did have and making some noise in his first year. Frankly, made a lot of dumb calls and also had some very poor showings in games that should have been easy wins.
Kirby's grade this season as a head coach: C-
Maybe he bumps up to a C+ if he manages to keep his recruiting class intact.

NOBODY predicted 7-5 at the start of the year.

So, if Georgia is 7-5 the next 2 years, what should we do? Give him a raise, or say,

I think the administration did everyone a disservice holding onto Richt so long. The attitude of mediocrity set root, fans came to expect underperforming teams and just got tired of the emotional investment and getting pissed about it. Now that this staff isn't showing anything much different, fans don't care. It's hard to get too excited when you do not see much hope on the horizon. Even when something good happens, we see something negative take the wind out the sails (reference auburn, tech). I for one have gone from fanatic to "ho hum" and these are the reasons why.

I don't think the attitude of our administrators or fan-base has changed much over the years. They know that football is not the top priority for our university otherwise we would have paid the big bucks to hire an experienced HC instead of Mark Richt and the same relative to Kirby Smart. The priorities for UGA administrators is increasing our academic standing and profit. UGA doesn't have the highest revenue among public universities but it is one of the most profitable because we budget within our means. We will maintain a good enough athletic department to keep the donations rolling in.

EVERYBODY on tRant prediction thread had us at 9-3. Some thought 10-2.
Revisionist's history. This season was a complete failure by everybody involved.
