I always thought our fan base was beneath such tacky crap like the Spike Squad. I appreciate their enthusiasm and spirit but it's kind of a BIG 10 thing to do right?

They are supporting the team, why would anyone have a problem with them?

They are fans. I've got no beef with them. I don't really have an opinion one way or the other on their chosen method of supporting the team.

They're college kids dressing up and making noise. Better than northern students that shake their keys on 3rd down

No prob with the kids in the stands. But imma ambivalent at best about the players and the golden spike shoulder pads.

Seems forced and fake juice, JMO...

You probably hate the Georgia Joker too. And Oreos, Coca-Cola and sex, right?

I mean it's not how I go to games, but if they enjoy doing it then more power to them.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I always felt like we need more fans and fewer fannies complaining when we stand during the game.

Again, I don't mind their passion but I don't want them necessarily representing our fan base to the rest of the country because it's tacky in my view. My mom would probably call it a "yankee" thing to do at a ball game.

Our students have become increasingly nerdy over the years because it's a hard school to get into now, and I suspect this was the cause for the spike squad in the first place.

Anyway, I'd rather have them there then not there, but I just always appreciated how traditional our fan base is compared to other schools.

It's pretty embarrassing. Suburban Atlanta kids ripping off NFL Raiders trash culture and bringing it to Athens.

Isn't that the group of seats the Baptist Student Union owns? They should throw a Jesus out there wearing the spikes.

Back in the 60s and 70s, professional sports had a much more "minor league baseball" feel. The fans were part of the experience. You'd come to the games and see the same nutjobs doing their own shtick. Again... it was part of the experience.

If some want to call it a Yankee thing, have at it. But sports are better when the fans are recognized and welcomed for their passion and enthusiasm. I'd never call Mike "Big Dawg" Woods a yankee.

Good for pro sports. We're talking about SOuthern college football here though. It's a different culture. A superior one.

Also, please stop yelling "Babba Booie!!!" at golf tournaments. That shits embarrassing too. Losers.

I like all their Satanic symbolism. If they can help the dark lord Satan bring us a victory, I'm all in.
