Anyone done the math on UGA backing into SEC East title?

I haven't bothered looking at everyone's remaining SEC games but I'm wondering if anyone has looked at the scenarios. Let's say that Michel and others fill the Chubb void, Lambert stops being inconsistent, and the defense gels...resulting in UGA beating Missouri, Florida, Kentucky, and Auburn. (Okay...not likely but stranger things have happened).

What else has to happen for UGA to back in?

I think a bunch of teams have to lose a lot.

It's really simple. We win out. Florida loses to either SC, Vandy, or LSU. UT loses to Mizzou, Bama, Vandy, or UK.

Bama doesn't have to beat Tenn. They already have 2 SEC losses, and still have to play 5 SEC games including Bama, they can lose any one of those. Hell, they could still lose two of their remaining SEC games.

Florida is the tricky one. They aren't likely to lose any more of their SEC games except LSU.

If they beat us, they have to lose to LSU, plus two other SEC teams.

LSU, VAndy, SC, and UGA are all they have left on the SEC schedule.

So basically, it comes down to UGA winning out and beating Florida. UGA loss to Florida, means Florida would have to lose to Vandy, USC, and LSU for UGA to win the East.

And what a shitshow that would be.

If UGA wins out, Bama should beat UTk (God almighty help us if they don't) and LSU should have an upper hand against UF. It's possible but highly unlikely. I don't know if we're going to beat Mizzou at 7:30PM on fricking homecoming. Not to mention that facing Treon Harris for UF is arguably a worse situation for us than facing Grier.

Listen, I'm not trying to be a negative nancy here. Winning the east needs to be out of our minds right now. We are alreading talking about ways to back in to Atlanta with a 2-2 SEC record.

Here's to hoping we get back on track with a win this weekend against Mizzou, and get to 8 or 9 wins. I think that should be our realistic expectations at this point.

We win out, UT loses to Bama and UF loses LSU. It's not that inconceivable.

If Georgia wins the East we will not be "backing into" the title. Georgia will have to win out and rip the title away from the Gators.

Hopefully, the UGA players are braver than the large contingent of pussies on GSB.

And in addition to Georgia winning out... the gators have to lose an additional SEC game.

If we beat the gators and they lose another game then it's not backing in.

OK, because we beat them, I see your point.

My point is we don't control our own destiny. We can't just win out.

For me personally, waiting for someone else to lose, to me that's backing in.

Which wasn't the case this time last week, and probably won't be the case this time next week.

If GA wins out and FL loses to LSU then we will make it....all else being equal.

And then UGA fans will be treated to watching our beloved team get beaten again on the biggest stage...by LSU. But it would be even better if Bama won the west so we could give Saban another chance to embarrass us again.

This team isn't ready for the SECCG. I prefer the Belk Bowl.

We have lost 2 SEC games, so has UT. UT owns the tie breaker, so someone, best odds are Bama has to beat UT.

Fla has lost none. Realistically speaking, LSU and UGA has to bear Fla as they only have Carolina and Vandy left. They do play LSU away at night.

My prediction? Bama handles UT. LSU handles Fla, we roll into the Cocktail again with our fate in our hands and a 1st year Fla coach hands our 15 year dean of the SEC coach his arse in a basket.

You heard it here first.

Cynical...but likely true. Not sure it's Richt's fault completely, though. It all starts and stops with our lack of a high level quarterback. Everything has gone to crap from there this season.

I know it is a cliche but in this scenarios there really isn't much sense in playing the games...I am as sure of this happening as I am the sun coming up...the only wildcard is that Missouri could very well knock us out of contention all the way around. That too would not surprise me in the least....

What would surprise me is if we blow Missouri out again and win easily. That would be much more unexpected....by many factors....than our losing to Missouri. And that is the sad state of football at UGA....

See, I see that too. What will happen is Georgia will finally be back in prime position but then shite their britches on national television for the 50th time.

Which probably will spare everyone from watching LSU or Alabama take them to the woodshed in Atlanta. But we are all gluttons for punishment so maybe deep down we crave to see that exact scenario.
