Step 1 - we go undefeated and pull out an exciting, down to the wire win against Bama in Atlanta
Step 2 - Notre Dame goes undefeated the rest of the way
Step 3 - USC has only 1 loss (to ND) and wins the PAC 12
Step 4 - Clementine wins the ACC with 1 loss (to GA Tech)
Step 4 - errybody else has 2 or more losses
Rose Bowl cant have a rematch with USC and ND
UGA gets invited to the ROSE BOWL to play USC (we get the nod over Clemson because everyone is impressed with how well our fan base travels)
Clementine gets ND in the Sugar Bowl
We pistol whip the Condoms out west
Clemson loses on a last second, heartbreak miracle play by the Irish
REMATCH with the Irish in Atlanta
Dawgs improve to 3-0 against the most storied program in NCAA history

If we go undefeated and everyone else has losses we would get to pick the bowl game closest to us and would play in the sugar bowl.

No way Kirby would pick to travel all the way across the country to play USC at the Rose Bowl. Would. Never. Happen.

Playing USC in the Rose Bowl in the early 2000s (BCS Era) is much different than playing in the Rose Bowl in your first ever playoff birth. I just don't see Kirby intentionally stacking the deck against us when we finally make the playoffs.

In my scenario we play USC
No way does Notre Dame get a rematch with us or USC
And we would be FAR better off playing USC 1st than we would Clemson
Kirby would not make the call either
Deck would not be stacked against us, we'd own half the stadium

Kirby most certainly would make the call. The team with the best record gets to pick and you can be damn sure Kirby will be the one making the call. It's his team.
I mean I don't hate the idea, I just don't think it would ever happen. Maybe if we win a couple Nattys and make the playoffs a few years in a row but Saban isn't even cocky enough to attempt something that difficult.

i thought the playoff format was number 1 automatically gets placed to the closest destination then the rest fall in place, the school or coach of number 1 does not get to pick but are automatically placed to the closest destination.

It very well could be automatic but I seem to remember last year they said Saban got to pick.
