Thanks for the update dallas. Nothing earth shattering there, and I'll believe we pull an elite recruit out of Alabama when I see it I guess, but the fact that he's a little lower on Bama's board definitely helps us out a bit. Our QB situation has to look pretty attractive as well.

UT 247 insider Ryan Callahan on Gibbs yesterday...

quote:

I am not big on playing the numbers game, but right now I don't think Tennessee has a good chance of landing Gibbs. There's no question in my mind right now that Georgia is the heavy favorite. Could that change over the next several months? Maybe. But Georgia is definitely in the driver's seat right now. And I don't think there's some big secret about why Georgia is in good shape with him. I think the addition of J.R. Reed was a big deal, and Nigel Warrior is not as big of a factor in Gibbs' recruitment as a lot of Tennessee fans seem to think.

Deconte Wyatt's stats from last week, 11 solo tackles, four assists, 4.5 sacks and six total stops behind the line. He also blocked a punt, forced a fumble and netted a safety in a 6-2 loss to Forest Park

6'3 295 athlete...why is he rated so low again?

Typically it's because someone isn't hitting the camp circuit put on by the rating services. But I don't know much about his situation so it could be different.

He doesn't camp and he plays at a historically terrible football school.

I guess this is how the TCU's and Michigan St's got the come up by scouting and recruiting the noncampers. I hope he sticks with us.

Plus he is fundamentally raw. Doesn't have the best technique.

Jake Fromm on record pace....

quote:

The race is on for Clemson quarterback and former Gainesville (Ga.) standout Deshaun Watson's GHSA career passing record. U.S. Army All-American Jake Fromm (Warner Robins, Ga./Houston County) was 27-of-38 for 444 yards and four touchdowns in his team's second game Friday, a 49-31 road win over Fort Valley (Ga.) Peach County.

Fromm caught fired in the second half, completing 14-of-16 pass attempts, including his last 13 passes. Through two weeks, Fromm is 53-of-74 for 858 yards and four touchdowns. That gives the Top 100 overall prospect and No. 3 ranked pro-style passer on 247Sports 9,693 career passing yards to date.

Watson holds the state record with 13,077 career passing yards, so Fromm needs to pass for 3,385 yards this season to break the record. While Houston County is likely to make the playoffs, Fromm could break the record before then if he averages 424 passing yards over the next eight regular season games, a little under his 429 passing yards per game average through two games this season.

Sounds absurd but definitely possible for Fromm
