Looks like more of the same ol' shite from the Diamond Dawgs. Might be time to blow the program up again.

Like I said earlier in the week, this pitching staff is horrible. No depth at all, and after 3 years, you kinda expect that out of your head coach.

Good to see Campbell hitting. He's going to be the best player on the team this year, and will get drafted pretty early.

The only hope is that the freshmen hitters come along quickly and we can out slug teams.

This is his fourth year

26-29-1(11-18-1)
26-28(10-19)
27-30(11-19)

He's been pretty consistently bad in his three years.

Curry is awful defensively. You can call them wild pitches all you want, but he isnt giving any help to the pitchers.

I'm all for making a change but, dammit, I wish they'd actually revamp the WHOLE program and not just the coach.

Foley Field is fricking embarassing. The passive war they've waged against the houses and apartments on Kudzu Hill is shameful. The fact that they're not bright enough to move our tiny scoreboard out of right field and into left center where it can act as a shield for the parking lot they refuse to build over proves the ignorance and lack of foresight.

I think it was Emerson that asked McGarity why they don't give the fanbase a Master Plan to look forward to and the response was basically that things are so fluid that they don't see the point. Well you know what isn't fluid? fricking Foley Field. You simply expand down the sidelines and get quasi creative with the outfield. Hell, I could draw you up a plan for Foley that would cost roughly what the Sanford stadium expansion is going to cost

Still has the yips, too. If Austin Biggar is serviceable at Catcher, best move may be to move Curry to DH

Pitching is abysmal

A few things, fwiw CoC wasn't that bad last year, they actually beat some pretty good teams. That being said, we just don't have that good of a team. This result didn't exactly surprise me, not sure what everybody else was realistically expecting. The past two years the pitching staff had arms that went early in the draft and we didn't do squat, so replacing those guys with average inexperienced talent doesn't exactly bode well.

I was told before the season that we'd probably be starting 3 freshmen, tonight we started 5 due to injury, which just shows how healthy we'd have to be all year to have a shot of doing much of anything. I think I read the other day that freshmen and sophomores out number upperclassmen at a ratio of like 3:1 or something ridiculous, fact is you just aren't going to win much with a roster like that.

People will say that we need to give Stricklin more time due to the class he just brought in, but if you look at how he has managed the roster while he's been here, I don't really have much hope that those promising freshmen will even be around by their junior year.

This is probably going to be a rough year.

I'm fine with firing Stricklin just based on lack of development alone. Pitchers aren't improving, batters have no concept of how to work a count or fight off pitches. I mean maybe we have a decent squad next year once we have a bunch of sophomores and juniors but I just don't trust that that's even going to matter.

Baseball is a dumpster fire and Foley is an actual dumpster

Yeah, when your Friday night starter can't make it through the 5th against a middle of the road mid major then you might be approaching dumpster fire material. That being said this was just one game, but I don't have much hope of getting to .500 honestly. I think Strick gets fired if he fails to make the SEC tourney again.

I dont want to defend this team, but is has been one game.

Yes, CoC is good. I dont care if Monty has been gone to Clemson for two years now(how'd that small school hire work out?). CoC will always be a tournament team or close to it. They are in a great spot for baseball, and their area can attract great players.....now I wont speak of the facilities or the administration....first hand knowledge.

We have a ton of freshmen that we are trying to force to be stars right now, and thats because Stricklin is trying to not be sent back to the MAC.

I still think our offense is going to score. Campbell is a superstar, but our pitching is horribad.

I know it has been one game but, man, I've been watching this program consistently since the early 2000s and all I could see tonight was more of the same from the past 3 years. Campbell and Proctor appear to have bright futures, Curry is going to be a solid batter but a liability defensively, Shepherd could be really good. The pitching is just sad. The days of Justin Grimm and Alex Wood and Josh Fields are so woefully behind us.
