Mike Gordon --- Derrick Brown

Do you know Derrick Brown? Would love to hear your thoughts on his potential as a college player. I saw him play last week. I was very impressed with his size and athleticism. I was very unimpressed with his technique, and was curious if it's accepted that he has a lot to learn once a gets to the collegiate level.

I cant tell you how I know. You don't have to believe me, I'm not here for attention.

Whether you choose to believe me or not, here are the facts:

1. E.J. was caught smoking (I don't know who actually caught him) weed in Athens. The staff was notified and understandably frustrated. Even after the fact he remained (was allowed to stay) committed. Then something else entirely different happened shortly thereafter.

2. E.J. sucker punched Kyle Davis at Archer. Yes, his teammate and friend, Kyle Davis.
I don't know why it happened or what their beef was at that time, but that's what went down. Consequently, the Archer coaches told UGA what happened and coach Richt then decided to tentatively pull his offer and advised E.J. to decommit so that he could work on his behavior and prove that he can man up and stay out of trouble.

Also hearing that:

Holyfield is 50/50 between Auburn and Georgia. He is NOT a lock folks.

Davis is leaning Tennessee. But was also told that he's a head case and that if he committed to Georgia he wouldn't be surprised. Hard to get a read on him.

Hardman is going to be a Dawg.

E.J. Price = NO IDEA

I heard Kyle told him he was leaning UT and Price tired to beat some sense into him. He's a DGD and we should welcome him. I made this up BTW.

It's just surprising to me that Tennessee can keep making empty promises about the direction of their program and how "this is the year blah blah blah" and kids keep going there.

Eventually you have to look at where you're going to get good teaching and coaching, and BMac is as good a coach as they come. If Davis goes to UT, then that's fine, let him walk the plank.

Everyone pulls for the underdog. UTk has been playing that card HEAVY since Bootch arrived (note how every year they've been "very young" and they're "only going to get better"). Just understand that that pitch wears thin without anything else to support it. Come NSD, stability and proven success starts to look a whole lot more attractive than the "help the underdog" scenario. Only way UTk remains a player is if they actually prove they can get to 10 wins this year. You can only sell the underdog card for so long before you just start to look like a loser.

ETA: Also worth noting that Azzanni (UTk WR Coach) is IMO the best coach and recruiter on their whole staff. He got snubbed for the OC position by fricking Mike DeBord this past offseason so don't be surprised if he moves on to a better paying gig and title after this year. THAT will shake up a lot of stuff.

Sadly, however, if Azzanni can go one last round for the Vols this year and take a new gig after NSD, we're equally as screwed as if he stays for '16-17.

With how overfilled their WR depth chart would be at that point, I'd expect a transfer or three if he bailed on them like that.

Makes me hope more kids take the Roquan route and skip the LOI if they even suspect that their recruiting coaches might hit the road.

Plus, even if the kids did transfer from UTk, you know as well as I do, the school would block their unconditional release. Not everyone is as forthright as they are in Athens if a kid wants to go elsewhere.
