We're not gonna wait on Kyle Davis' decision a few months away then get caught with our pants down if he chooses AU/UT. He has a spot and so does Mecole even thought by all accounts he's already a silent.
Demetris Robertson looks bound for anywhere besides Athens.

count is a pretty strong word, but I believe it does apply in this situation.

An NFL GM once told me that when evaluating wide receivers, it's not always important for a wide receiver to check every box as long as the receiving corps being put together checks every box. There are only a few Calvin Johnsons or Dez Bryants in the world, guys that are huge, with elite speed, strength, route-running and ball skills (Kyle Davis anybody?). Georgia doesn't have one of those guys in the 2016 class either but the group that Mark Richt is putting together collectively has everything you want. That sentiment is further cemented with the addition of Davion Curtis out of Temple, Texas on Monday.
Charlie Woerner has that size and physicality on the outside at 6-5, 220+. Darion Anderson can be your versatile route-runner that can wear different hats, Randrecous Davis is clearly the slot space player and now Georgia has its guy that can take the top off the defense with speed in Curtis. Every year Texas produces these guys, athletic burners that slip out of the state and excel. Curtis has a modest ranking according to the 247Sports and he's got an opportunity to improve that ranking as a senior but there's no question that with legitimate track times under 10.7, Curtis can deliver as a speedster.
quote:
On a team that featured two running backs that rushed for over 1,700 yards (Oklahoma State signee Jeff Carr and juco signee Marques Hatcher) and a quarterback who ran for 878 yards (Tulsa freshman Chad President), Curtis was still able to reel in 44 passes for 996 yards and 13 touchdowns, over 22.6 yards per reception.

Both Jake and Kipp Double Secret CB'ed E.J. Price. Any idea where?

I would tell you but then I'd have to kill myself.
No, seriously, what is the purpose of secret crystal balls? My guess is UGA without a doubt.

No longer a member of 247, but I think the cloudy crystal balls indicate confusion. I.e., no clue where he is going at the moment. My aunt is the assistant principal at Archer, she has said nothing but good things about EJ. Does anyone know what he did? The coaches obviously pushed him to decommit...

I just went to 247 and checked. The cloudy CBs mean foggy. I was thinking that maybe they represented specific school predictions that for some reason had to be kept secret. Now I can only think Price goes elsewhere but I hope he is a Dawg.

They had him CB'd to UGA before he committed, now that he has decommitted they switched it to "foggy", because they don't know where he is going now but Jake and Rusty are adamant that the UGA ship has sailed and the staff is no longer recruiting him. SOMETHING had to have happened for UGA to cut ties with one of the top rated players in the nation that is in your own backyard. Everyone who knows, though, is remaining tight lipped.

I thought Price's deal was that his grades were garbage. Wasn't that like the worst kept secret in recruiting, this cycle? Or am I confusing him with someone else?
Posted on 8/3/15 at 9:29 pm to VoxDawg
It was all speculation. There's also speculation that he beat up a teammate and that he asked one or more coaches for a little cash off the books.

Maybe I'm reading too much into the following statement, but to me it looks like negative recruiting is in full swing:
It looks like a few schools are telling the momma, don't let your son go to UGA and be a space eater. Either way, Gary's mom seems to love UGA and I'd be surprised if they didn't give the Dawgs an official.
quote:
As Dawgs247 reported Monday, the University of Georgia is still in line to land an official visit from Rashan Gary, the No. 1 prospect in the country.
And when they do get Gary and his mom back on campus, they will have a question to answer.
"As someone who is starting to learn about football, I understand that Georgia runs a 3-4 defense," Gary's mom, Jennifer Coney said. "That means they have a defensive lineman, a nose and an end. Those three people are there to hold up the offensive linemen to allow the linebacker to make plays.
"Well, if that's the case, how is Rashan going to make these sacks, how is he going to make tackles? It is going to be hard, if he is there holding up the offensive linemen. Maybe I am wrong - so if and when Georgia has him on an official, they will have a chance to answer that question."
"Other than that question, I like Georgia a lot," Coney said. I am very high on Georgia. The same experiences that I felt at Auburn, I also felt at Georgia. "
Coney confirmed the Dawgs247 report that the plan is to decide which five schools will get official visits by the end of the month and that Georgia is still in line to land one of them.

I'm disappointed in Eddie O. I get what he's trying to do. Basically he's trying to differentiate LSU (where Gary just visited, now this concern pops up) from the other contenders (AU, UM, UGA, UA) who all will basically run some sort of hybrid 3-4.
This pitch is just not well thought out. Georgia, and the other "3-4" teams, is in an even front like 80% of the time. The basic benefit of hybrid college defenses is being able to adapt scheme to your personnel and your opponents scheme. If you have elite interior DL, they you showcase them. Beyond even that easily refutable and lazy point, the film doesn't lie.
The highest paid defensive player in NFL history plays DE in a 3-4.
JJ Watt
Haloti Ngata was monster for years in a 3-4 with the Ravens. Marcell Dareus at Alabama.
We even have Timmy Jernigan tearing shite up in Pruitt's defense at FSU. LINK
ETA: If it was Auburn, than this pitch is even more retarded.
