I think Chatt is a decent team, and I wouldnt call it an embarassing loss. EMbarrassing showing at the FT line though for sure.

I wouldn't call it embarrassing either. They were making everything, it was poorly reffed both ways, and it's the first game of the season. A lot of teams struggle early. It's definitely not good though. Lot of concerns. Defense was bad, and FT shooting was awful as always.

We had some embarrassing aspects of it from our end, but this isn't football. They are a 20 win team that is supposed to win their conference. You don't just look at the name on the jersey. ULLafeyette, Northern Illinois, UC Irvine, Robert Morris, SF Austin, ND State, Texas Southern, Wofford, Coastal Carolina, and Hampton made the tourney last year. But I guess based on name alone all of those would have been bad losses.
Obviously you want to win these games, it's not going to get easier. But we knew going in that our SOS this year was going to be really damn tough. Chattannooga is a good team, "spin it how you want".

You act like I take some pride in it, or that I hold my head high because of it. I hate losing, even if it's to kentucky. My sleeping patterns aren't affected one iota though because of our basketball team. I just try to point out to the uneducated that just because a school doesn't have a major football program that they actually can, *GASP*, have a pretty good basketball team. Or baseball, or any number of other sports!

That loss hurts but isn't entirely surprising missing our 2nd best post player, a perimeter guard who is in the rotation and playing an experienced team who many predicted in the NCAA tourney.
That said I hate the rule changes. Love the shot clock, ok with a few others but we need less fouls not more. 70+ FTs and 60+ fouls in a game is almost unwatchable. Hate how we change the sport to try to get casual fans to watch more because of higher scores.

Right... Chattanooga... A team that will not be a tournament team... will not win their conference... Say what you feel... Chattanooga... We lost... But hey, at least we scored 90 points...

Scoring was at an all-time low last year... It WAS unwatchable at times last year. The rule changes are concerning for teams with less talent creating more possessions for them, resulting in more points/bigger losses.

We did lose, it was a loss that easily should have been a win. Frustrating game. That said, Chattanooga is a good small school. Doesn't justify losing but they are a contender in their conference which would earn them a tourney bid. Returned 4 starters from a 22 win team.

Seeing Alabama, Tennessee, and auburn get blown out early makes the loss to UTC seem a little better.

I mean...they'll most likely be in the field. That's not spin, that's just where people project them.
