Would you send your kid to A&M today?

Quick background: I graduated with my B.S. in 2012 and my M.S. in 2014. As a recent graduate, I get bombarded with "donate to A&M" calls at 5pm Pacific (working in CA). I have cohorts from universities around the world and keep thinking to myself that if my children had a choice among all universities, would I send them to A&M...

As much as I love A&M, I dont think I would send my kids there. I feel the University is no longer focused on academics. Is this just state schools in general?

A&M is getting really big. Not sure how I feel about it.

I've always told myself that it would be their choice, not mine. I wouldn't want to direct them towards A&M only for them to hate it and resent me for it. The decision will be theirs.

Having said that, there's no fricking way they're going to Tech. No uh. frick THAT!

If they want to go there, I absolutely would. I am not going to dictate where my kids go to school, if they are accepted somewhere and want to attend there they are free to do so. They might just be on the hook for some student loans after the fact in certain cases depending on the cost of said institution

I won't force them to go anywhere, but I'm paying for A&M and A&M only.

I don't understand that mentality at all. If my kid gets into Stanford or Harvard, I will not only contribute whatever I can for it, I'll be happier paying for it than I would be paying for A&M.

I graduated in '77. It was much larger enrollment when you graduated. Your degree isn't worth as much as mine.

Is that what you're saying?

Buncha 2 percenters up in here.

Having your kids go to A&M is an 18 year journey of subtle brain washing techniques. I'm guessing no one else was a Fish Camp counselor?

If I had multiple children, I would offer one as a sacrifice for a football, baseball, and basketball National Championship.

Hey man I found a way to get both done.

And yes, I would. Don't have any scheduled for the next few years though, so a lot could change. Hopefully the ship is righted.

Didn't go to fish camp. Grew up 30 min from Palestine and didn't feel like driving to CS in order to take a bus back home, then back to CS and home again. frick that.

That said, I was kinda jealous of all the kids hanging out with their DG's.
