Why do Sooners/Sips/Corndogs think A&M can never be successful? Anyone know?

All we have heard so far (for years) is the same "never-have-never-will" and, "because, Aggy" insults with no real explanation. It seems like a "just because" line of reasoning that never goes beyond that. When you press them, they seem to realize how stupid it sounds, but they push on anyway.

Most recent example (from mightydirtburglarfishtickler):

1. A&M is trying too hard to be somebody we're not.

2. A&M trying to buy a good program, rather than build one.

3. A&M is selling its soul to make it happen.

4. A&M is relying on slick marketing campaigns, catchy slogans, and shiny objects (a/k/a gimmick program).

I would like to know what, if anything, y'all think our administration and AD is NOT doing that it SHOULD be doing in order to get A&M to the highest levels of competition.

Thanks, and Gig'Em.

No matter how good LSU is they will always be mad at A&M. I think some of their posters actually got bullied by A&M fans at some point in their life.

I also think the Saban comments about the A&M game genuinely hurt some of their feelings.

It is a defense mechanism. They see all that we have done for ourselves, sometimes at their detriment (SEC move), and that is their natural reaction. Just on the face of it we have all the pieces to compete at a high level, so to mitigate the threat in their minds (because they can do nothing about it thanks to a GOR or AD issues) they attribute a lack of success to Aggiedom as if we are cursed. I equate it to having a belief in magic because you can't explain how a smartphone works.

The sad part is until we win something we have no way to disprove the theory.

Nope, I was serious about 3 more losses possible

I picked LSU to win the SEC and so far they are getting it done

Auburn looked DOA but seem to have some zombie in them so not counting them out

Vanderbilt really is the question mark, as they are starting to look like old Vandy. Years ago some Bama poster had the best quote ever about the Dores and I wish I had bookmarked it.

Went something along the lines of

You will swear the score is 42-7 but you look up late in the game and it is actually 21-17. You will dominate the stats all day but Dores will make a FG and lose by 1. You will be mystified but happy to take your 1 point win and move on.

While I think Dores have massive problems on offense, I have been surprised to see the strides they have made on defense this season. If TAMU comes into Nashville overconfident, I can see the Dores pulling the upset. Even with Chubb, UGA only scored 31 and the Dores got 14. I might even go so far as to put the Cougars on upset alert.

I think any team with the $$ aTm has, has the potential to be a successful program. Not to mention you're in the middle of one of the hot-beds for football talent.

Y'all just haven't gotten to a level of "sustained success" and thus, this sort of trash talk is going to continue until you do. Things like the "SwaggerCopter" are easy ammunition until it really starts to pay off for y'all.

Eta: I'm not worried about aTm becoming successful, LSU is going nowhere and it only benefits the SEC as a whole to have the best teams. Lord knows the Arkansas of the world aren't holding up their end.

In order, I'd say stupidity, denial, and fear.

Sooners/sips... Nothing but jealousy, 100%. They would do anything to be in the SEC and are reacting as such. There is a huge disconnect between what their fans want and where they're headed.

Corn dogs... I haven't met any in real life that aren't excited about having tamu in their division and want a real rivalry to break out again, but we haven't beat them yet. On tRant, they're reacting to how some Aggie fans comport themselves on the forum, and for the most let I can't say I blame them

Well... for the fanbases you mentioned the answer is obvious, ain't it? Those folks judge "success" by national championships, and they've all had one or more since the BCS started.

I personally think that A&M can and will be successful. Defensive Coordinator position is fixed. Talented players all over the field. Offense(Kyle Allen)is just hiccupping right now. Recruiting to me seems like it's the highest it's ever been. This isn't the Big 12 in the end the correct decision was made in the best conference/division in the country.

If sooners/sips didn't feel so threatened, do you think we'd hear as much shite as we do now from them? Jealously.

Tiger? They don't think that. They just love shitting on everyone else no matter what and welcome it back. Everything's magnified on tRant.

I think ATM will definitely be a dominant force in the sec at some point in time. The resources are too plentiful and the recruiting base is too strong not to be successful. I believe ATMs issues stem from the type of football they play right now. The spread offense works great 75% of the time. When it gets rolling it is virtually unstoppable. See past years under Jff, Oregon, and auburn when they have explosive offenses. The issue is you have to be able to control the clock and run when you need too. I think sumlin is a great coach and recruiter but I think ATM is seeing a need for a different style than what they had in the big 12. The ATM teams of the late 80's and 90's with great defenses and great running games will be their way to success. There are too many great recruits in Texas that want to play in the sec for ATM not to be successful long term. Be patient and give the coaches time. You are already improving on defense. It was amazing you didn't give up more points considering how bad the offense has been the last couple weeks.

I agree with most of the posters here. I think a&m has always been right there but will take a step back whatever it may be. I mean everything else is in order. Grand stadium, money to sustain, die hard following, fantastic facilities, and a hot recruiting bed. What imo think it is that yall have yet to prove to the recruits is that yall can maintain on a national scale but I think the move to the SEC has opened the door for that. Yall are putting some serious talent on the field since yall have joined and that will only imrpove. Seriously, a 10-3/11-2 season is not going to hurt the program at all. Have 3 seasons like that in a row and the dominoes will fall in the places you want them.

As for the bickering between us on the rant. I think Ags and Tigers have been fricking with each other for so long no one knows any better any more.
