Gustafson - he greyshirted in 2013, right? That's the same thing, different name
Ellis - redshirted, but due to health issues, so he can be removed
Durham - you're right, thought I read he was given a redshirt last year

So striking those errors, thats 25 guys who redshirted under Sumlin

3 starters (Gennessey, Eluemenor, McCoy)
2 depth guys (Chevis,Jefferey)
1 future starter (Pryor)
2 Sophomores w/ potential (Nacho, Koda)
1 Sophomore w/ little potential (K. Davis)
2 Freshmen w/ potential (Elam, Kemah)
1 Freshman who intends to transfer (Bussey)
13 guys who had no significant impact for various reasons

I do think this is our deepest team, so guys redshirting year are presumably better than previous redshirts. But I still stand by the belief that guys who can play almost always play right away, outside of unique circumstances.

Hopefully the 2016 WR position fits that description, because otherwise i foresee outside receiver being a significant problem in 2017.

Edited...

I still think this is crap. This is year five and the first year you would see redshirts in the Senior class under a Sumlin staff, however, Nachos did some research on this one. It might be more than just his opinion.

It may be skewed by the fact that many of the kids who redshirt will transfer after being passed up on the depth chart or are put there because of injury (Elbert, Madubuike, Gustafson, Manning, Brett Wade, and Joas Agular...).

If Speedy returns and RSJ leaves, I would like to see him in the slot. I believe Chriss is a slot too.

That would leave Ratley, Siverand, Rogers, and Davis. Out of the newcomers both Ausbon and Jones have played outside WR and both are early graduates. A "wildcard" is Carper. I believe they want him to play safety, but I think they said he had almost 800 yards receiving this year and he is a big physical player.
