Chaco's is where it's at.

God I love Chacho's. Haven't been there in a minute and my waistline thanks me for it

Also love Las Palapas. Work right next door to one.

Good point. Actually I still need to take Aggiebelle to Fiesta. She entered the homebody stage of the pregnancy a few weeks back, though (and we're already homebodies to begin with ).

The door to La Casa de Tbird is always open.

Thanks buddy.

I have a formal application in to take a special duty there. I can't seem to get out of Mountain Home to save my life. Back in 2015 I applied for a special duty down to Gunter AFB in Montgomery.

I didn't have the required 48 months TOS but my Wing CC was willing to sign a waiver for me. I called the listing POC to ask where I should send the memorandum and was told she had talked to AFPC and they weren't accepting any waivers because they had plenty of non-vols to "burn through" before they would take one.

I was the only volunteer, twice, and the job was vacant for a year.

They made some poor dude from Whiteman go instead and he didn't want to go. How fricked up is that?

Had a friend up at MH trying everything he could to get out. Met him at my first duty station when he finally succeeded: Altus AFB

Gunter AFB

My dad's second duty station. MY parents met at their first (Keesler AFB) then my dad drove back and forth from Gunter to Maxwell AFB when mom got stationed there (I was born at Maxwell).

Oh that's messed up I didn't mind Whiteman quite as much as Altus, but I would have been livid if Gunter was my reward for my longsuffering

Don't get me wrong, MH is not that bad, but it's too far away from our family.

Altus AFB

frick. That.

I went to ALS at Maxwell. I was stationed at Columbus, but it's so small they only hold two in-residence courses there a year. I got that Levitow though.

I've been to Gunter for training courses though. It's tiny, but I was willing to go there just to get closer to home for my wife and kids. They are tired of the cold. It hit -14 up here this winter.

I currently have "Worldwide Short" as the only thing on my dream sheet thinking I could get Turkey or Korea and get a follow-on to either Florida or San Antonio.

Assignments dropped Friday night. I didn't get one.

Man, I couldn't believe how shitty my luck was to get that right off the bat. My dad was stationed at Vance AFB when I was a kid--already knew what a hellhole Altus was

True

But my God, Altus, America will make you look longingly at Sheppard and Tinker AFB.

We'd visit friends there to have a good time

This used to be our team post game meal spot for football games in San Antonio.
Their chicken fried steak and buttered tortillas are the best around.

SA demographic is comparable to Houston and Austin. If you think different, you're lying to yourself. Same type of folks.

Disagree completely. Just utterly, fundamentally disagree. I've lived in all 3 places, as an adult, and SA is not as good as Houston and not even in the same universe as Austin when it comes to a scene for fine 20-something females. Does SA just absolutely completely demolish Altus, OK? YES! Is it in any way, shape, or form anywhere near on par with Austin? No.

Then it would appear that we have reached an impasse.

I completely disagree. I reject your assertion on its face.

I wasn't comparing SA to Altus. Where'd you come up with that nonsense?
