I was hard on them yesterday, but they have been responsive today. I give credit where it's due.

Like I said last night, the site mods do pretty doggone well considering the naturally contentious nature of the Rant. The lsu bias is more of a default to make it easier on them as opposed to having to suss out which posters were at fault for every little brouhaha that arises.

I mean, that's how I'd do it if I were running things. Don't have time to figure out how/when/why random arkyfan attacked gatorfan seemingly out of the blue

Most reasonable people know what is a straigh-up flame thread. Most of us were not using the RA function because most of us hate the way TexAgs moderation is conducted.

We are partly to blame for the flame-fest that has occurred on tRant because we have not done what they have asked us to do, which is RA the flaming crap until it gets under control. Our faulty approach has been to flame in response, which breeds more flaming.

That brings up this question:

Do they penalize you for RAing questionable stuff? If they do, wouldn't that have a chilling effect on poster's willingness to RA? I know I will keep my clicker off the RA button if there is any chance they hold it against me.

Yea the folks who think RAing is for snitches shouldn't be allowed to complain. Including LSU fans.

I've said it before, the admins are highly accustomed to banning LSU fans and whacking LSU fan threads. They've been doing it daily since 2003. They've no qualms with it.

Man, they've PMd me for minor things so many times They don't want the board to suck. Just RA flames and people who are being obnoxious and derailing shite. I RA posts fairly often and I've never felt like it was held against me. I think they get it.

Nah, if you cry wolf too often over trivial stuff, the worst that'll happen is your RA's might get ignored. They won't retaliate against you, though. Really not worth the effort for them, you know?

Like cas4t said, they all have jobs, too

I hardly ever RA (have threatened to a few times, but rarely follow through). Partly because I'm just lazy, and partly because on the off chance that some poster is actually getting to me, I prefer just to bail on the thread than pursue the object of my angst further. I just end up feeling silly after it's all said and done

I RA because the admins asked us to and because they're LSU fans. I want their website to be top notch

As someone who built, owned, and operated a Texas A&M website for several years (as well as being one of TexAgs.com's original moderators in 1998), I can vouch for the miserable, thankless job that is herding a bunch of cats on an Internet website.
The ladies and gentlemen of TigerDroppings.com do a top-notch job, and my glass is raised on their behalf.

Yes.
My sister and I built 12thFan.com--with the blessing of our dearest friend, Peter Kuo (originator of TexAgs.com), with whom we worked, helped, and moderated during his initial launch days of TexAgs.com.

After the tragedy, we built 12thFan.com--for deeply personal reasons.
The running and management of the site was a logistical nightmare (and we had full-time jobs), but we contend to this day that we had the best community in cyberspace.
We eventually sold part of our holdings to The Insiders/Scout, (after much begging on their part ), then the rest to Hop & Co.

I'm proud of what we accomplished on our own; but I'd never do it again.
I could write a book about the experience.
provided I had much liquor on hand during the process.

I loved 12thfan. I loved the community there. It and then the changeover to Websider helped me through a very dark and lonely time in my life. I miss that community. This one has the chance to be very similar though.
