I like Gundy also. Herman might be a very good big 12 coach.
In my opinion I think Ags need to move toward a much more physical overall direction. I would look at someone like Paul Chryst (Wisconsin).
People on here may not like it but I think Bert has done a pretty good job at Arkansas. They don't have near the recruiting horsepower A&M has and he is fielding some pretty physical teams. He probably isn't going to get over the hump at Arkansas but I'm not sure he wouldn't get over it at a school like LSU, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, and A&M, etc...

He won a Big 10 title over the defending national champion last season...or have you forgotten already?

You really don't believe some people would ask for his head after a 3-8 season? I think so.

Gundy's dream job is Oklahoma state. People have basically stopped calling him about moving because he's turned down a lot of programs. Not saying he wouldn't leave under the right circumstances, just saying it's not like he hasn't been asked before

I would love to see us go the direction of the Dallas cowboy blueprint. Not sure if we could land the linemen to do it though.

It's pretty well known him and Pickens have issues

He and Pickens are in a spat and have been for some time.
quote:
When asked whether there is a rift between himself and Gundy, Pickens replied, “I don’t know, but Mike doesn’t handle people relationships very well. And he gets mad about things. I’ve heard he’s written some notes about me that weren’t very complimentary.”
quote:
For three years after a contentious Gundy-OSU contract negotiation in 2011-12, Gundy and Pickens did not speak to each other.
quote:
This comes following comments coach Gundy made in the weekly conference call on Monday where he was asked about his old boss Les Miles.
“He said,” Gundy said quoting something Mike Leech had told him. “‘You just hang around a place long enough as a coach, they’re eventually going to get tired of you and fire you.’ I think that’s probably the best example of what happened yesterday.”
quote:
Then in November of 2014, when asked if Boone still supports Gundy as head coach, he replied that he supports Oklahoma State. “I’m certainly supportive of Oklahoma State University,” Boone replied. “I’m always going to be for OSU, I don’t care who coaches ‘em.” To which Gundy replied: “I don’t need anybody to tell me that they like me or dislike me,” he said. “I don’t really care. I just like to coach my guys and keep playing ball. I don’t know what to say. He’s old enough to make his own comments now, right? I can’t control what he says.”

The DC blueprint works bc the other teams in the league began going to smaller, faster LBs who could cover in pass game. They wanted an athletic line that could reach the second level and push people around.
The rest of the SEC already plays physical football. Won't work the same.

That honestly makes me feel worse. The best coaches in college football are all assholes.

Something was always very off about Herman at Houston. His media spat with KILT-AM, his awkward interview about not going anywhere before the Memphis game (mysteriously taken down by ESPN), and the whole kissing thing that makes his players uncomfortable. He can win the big games, but his team took a step down overall this year. He did well with Levine players, but that's all we know about him thus far.
Rumors were floating out there that he told his team he would take an opportunity to further his career if it were offered to him right around the Navy game (it would explain why they played poorly the following weeks afterward). I personally don't buy it, but then again we are talking about the guy who made an arse of himself over a small technicality with John Lopez. His wife ain't making any matters any better by tweeting to the (now former) co-host last week. They both had moments on their way out of town. I'm just going to sit back and enjoy his first run in with the Austin media. He's going to follow it like a hawk and learn real quick he won't be able to control it.

There's no way in hell anyone gets that shitshow into NCAA probation. They're basically the Clintons of college football.
