I actually think we win this one, 55-51.

No, I'm not being optimistic.

Mississippi State is the only team in the SEC that is truly worse than we are. Their roster was gutted by graduation and attrition, they have a brand new coach, and they just suck all around.

Our problem is coaching. Their problem is coaching, lack of talent, and the fact that they're Mississippi State.

We'll see. In the meantime, I'm scouring the internet thinking about who might be a good candidate to be the next HC.

The best candidate (if we can get him) is obviously Shaka Smart of Virginia Commonwealth.

My next choice would be Tommy Amaker of Harvard (recruited Jeremy Lin).

I still think Seth Greenberg is our best bet, unless we can get the 2005 version of Billy Gillispie.

The more I think about Seth Greenberg, the more I like it.

Smart would be fine by me.

What do you think of Steve Alford out there in New Mexico?

Not really sold on Alford. Not sure why.

I didn't really follow our last coaching search, but is Buzz Williams just completely out of the question?

Boris: I think so. Money, buyout, bad timing. I just don't see it happening ever.

CGSC: Now that I've thought a little more on Alford, why would he leave a basketball school, which New Mexico is.

Miss. St. 62 to 58.

As for future coaches I'd love to see Chaka Smart here, but I think he turned down nc state and Illinois, and a good deal of money from both if I'm not mistaken. And both of those schools actually give a shite about basketball.

Buzz williams would also be amazing, but basically once Kennedy was hired here I had the realization that if we couldn't pull anybody of note after the string of years we had just had, we never would. Same thing goes for the turgeon hire after Gillispie. It will always be a mid major type guy, and if he turns out to be good, he'll be gone.

At this point id just like to see a coach get some effort out of these kids. That's what was so great about gillispie's teams. His kids busted their arse, and the defense always allowed us to stay in games with teams whose talent was well above ours as a whole.

Sorry, long winded. Just get the frick rid of Kennedy.

1. Buzz Williams had a buyout similar to Chad Morris' buyout at Clemson.

2. Bill Byrne was a dumpster diver when it came to coaches for the major programs.

True, but head basketball coach is a bit different than OC. At any rate, it seems like Williams is a very long shot.

I get that we'll never be a basketball school but we can do a whole hell of a lot better than Kennedy. It's totally possible that another year or two of him could do some long term damage and I hope Hyman doesn't sit around and wait for that to happen. And if he does do something I hope he doesn't go bargain hunting like Byrne.

Vegas has set the line at A&M -4, with the over/under at 119.

I'm going to take A&M to cover tonight. I'm not going to touch the over/under, but I would bet the under if I had to lay some money down.

God help us all if we lose this game tonight.

We were favored by 9 against Georgia and 6 against LSU.

I'm pretty sure Vegas HATES us by now.

I still believe Hyman will give him one more year to make the dance.

If, however, I am wrong I am fine with whatever the AD decides, as long as we don't get some crap hire.

The only names mentioned in this thread that really intrigue me are Williams (not ever going to happen, we won't pay that much for a BBall coach), and Smart who I am not certain would come here anyways (especially not since someone else mentioned he has turned down a few jobs that are better than A&M).

But then again Hyman went out and took Frank Martin from KSU so maybe he can make a splash hire.

...will spin a 1-point win over Mississippi State as proof that Kennedy has things in the right direction and needs 7 more years.

I can play that retarded game too.

As shitty as we are this year, if we can't beat Mississippi State, we may not win another game.

[ETA] err....this is my game prediction. But, I guess it could also refer to the squabble between DrRC and GGSC.
