and I kind of like it. I want billboard material. I want the chip on the shoulder. I want Sumlin to have the us against the world mentality.
But Vegas knows whats up. We're still 2-3 point favorites over #16 ASU.
I think we will be 10-15 after week 4. So it'll be short lived and the hype machine will be nuts again.

We will be ranked right after ASU so I'm cool with it.
But it's plain silly that Arkansas and Tenn are ranked but we aren't.

Didn't expect to be. Not sure why everyone gets so bent out of shape about preseason rankings anyways. It's the average of a variety of people's best GUESSES as to the best team's this season. Obviously it's going to be inaccurate and flawed, otherwise we wouldn't be playing the games.

Agree to disagree.
Our 8-5 record and returning players give us easily as good of an outlook at Ark, UT, Stanford, ND, etc.

On the surface our team is getting worse each year. People also see our recruiting rankings and think that means our team should have been improving.

He left a very talented 1 deep at most positions, guys who were multi year starters across the board.
We had no depth on defense at any position. We also had been recruiting for the big12, which is stylistically just a little bit different than the SEC.
The '13 class has been a disappointment, but we were desperate for bodies.

We'll know by 10 PM on September 5th whether or not we deserve to be ranked so I'm fine with this. Beat ASU impressively and we'll be 15-20 after week 1. We'll easily be top 15 by the time we play Arky if we are 3-0

i'm actually a little worried about the hype if we do what I expect to AZST and ARKY.
I think arky takes a significant step back.

(And yeah, I know the answer. Rhetorical question.) A&M was unranked at the end of last year, had a 3-5 SEC record, and got whooped 59-0. So this doesn't surprise me at all. Sure, a lot has happened in the meantime, but until they start knocking heads they haven't proven they should be ranked. FWIW I expect them to be top 10 at the end of the year.

I like the optimism but I just don't see it. I see losses to Bama, Auburn or LSU, and 1 "How the frick did we lose to them" game.
Optimistically I could see 9-3, but 8-4 is where im thinking, and 7-5 wouldn't be completely out of the question to me.
That being said my entire view could change if these young kids come in and immediately contribute with little to no learning curve.

The fun part about this time of year is nobody knows a damn thing
. That seems especially true this year with the SECW. The end result will probably be closer to what you're predicting, but I think the Ags have a single loss (to Bama) and that's it. And I'm always... well, mostly... OK sometimes right. Sort of. OK, no I'm not. But it could happen.

I don't think this year is going to suck or anything, but I think ASU is really really good. It wouldn't surprise me if we get our doors blown off
