pre-summer. No fish on it yet (other than those that enrolled early and unsurprisingly LaCamera). Rough idea of where things stood at end of spring. No real surprises

Doesn't look like BWilliams is on defense. Was he expected to be a starter or just add some depth?

It's required that they submit something for media days and this is the post-spring depth chart. At that point Williams was still on offense (he's listed as co-starter at RB)

Who's starting and who'll be getting PT.

1. Sumlin's depth charts usually aren't very accurate.
2. There is a long time before we get to ASU.

ahh, well I'll agree with that but it's definitely the starting point, with a few exceptions for fish, for fall practices

This is clearly a post-spring, as it's still got Brandon Williams at RB, has none of the number changes, and still has Julien Obioha starting at SDE.

Sure about that?

-It's got Brandon Williams still at RB and not at corner
-It's got Jeremiah Stuckey at starting LG
-It's got Julien Obioha at starting SDE and not Daeshon Hall
-It doesn't have A.J. Hilliard as a starter
-It has Victor Davis as starting corner
-It has Armani Watts at SS and Justin Evans at FS

Having Davis and Harris as our starting corners scares the shite out of me. These guys need to step it up this year.

Obioha said he's up to 280 now. I can;t see him playing end. Now he may start at DT though.

Obioha will find a role. He's smart, never lacks for effort, and is a good technician. Every coach in history loves guys like that. But we lie pretty bad (as does virtually every college) on official numbers so I wouldn't put much stock in them.

His problem is that he lacks the raw size for inside or the athleticism for outside. He's just a bit of a tweener. My guess right now is he'll play DE in short yardage type situations and DT in passing situations. He probably won't play the primary at either spot but he'll probably be listed as OR at one or both spots at times or even all year.

But I think this came straight from the horses mouth. He was shocked how quickly he was able to pack on weight per Chavis's request.

But I agree with you on how to use him. He's a solid run stopped so it makes sense to have him there at end on obvious running plays.

Obioha was listed as a fish at 255. Spencer Nealy said he was actually playing sub 220

We moved him to DT and he magically became 280. Not buying it

But I'm not talking about what A&M listed him at. This is from Julien. I don't think he's a liar.

quote:

"The transition [to DT] has been great. Coach Chavis asked me to gain a lot of weight and I have lived up to my end of the bargain. I still have more weight to gain. I think I'm up to 280 right now and I want to be up to 290. It highlights my strengths in my run defense. And then I can pass rush a lot better on the inside. It's been great and I'm so happy to move inside."
