1. Professionally, assuming he continues to improve in both sports, is he ultimately a baseball player or a football player? We have a kid, on a much lower level, that is coming in and playing football and baseball and has made it clear that baseball is what he ultimately wants to do.

2. I'm not sure what your depth looks like and Murray may be the #2 guy or may even win the #1 spot but what I'm wondering is...if the kid is a baseball player eventually and you're certain he'll go pro after his 3rd year, does it make any sense to redshirt him in football? Unless he's obviously not ready.

3. Another question. Let's say he redshirts in football but plays baseball his 1st year. Let's say he doesn't get drafted or not very highly and plays his first 4 years in baseball. I'm assuming that he could still play football in his 5th year despite having burned up his baseball eligibility because he redshirted his 1st year in football. I know it's not pertinent to Murray and probably not the Mizzou kid, but it got me wondering if my assumption was right.

He's a super talented freak with a champions heart. Who knows?

I don't think there's any way he redshirts in football. He will contribute right away in baseball and that may be his best route to pro stardom, but who knows.

1. he probably has more potential as a baseball player but his heart leans to football. Also, the big reason he is not a better NFL prospect is size but the NFL seems to be changing and maybe in another few years that will be seen as less a detriment

2. He's not certain to go pro and even if he does, if he is the starter in football he'll almost certainly continue playing and skip fall ball. I don't think we'll redshirt him anyway

3. You can have different classifications by sport so yes, he could play a 5th year of football even after exhausting his baseball eligibility.

he also could grow a little more. He's only 17. It wouldn't surprised me to see him end up around 6'1.

Technically most people grow till their 30, it's just very slowly.

If he were 3 inches taller and 20 pounds heavier he'd have been the #1 recruit in the country.

How tall was Kevin? The reason I ask is because if you look at how short his mother is, simple genetics dictate that he won't be as tall as his dad.

Typically, a child's height ranges between 5 inches of the average between the two parents' heights.

Example: My parents are 5'7 and 5'2. I'm 5'9 but my sister is 5'0

If Kevin is 6'2 and his wife is 5'2 or shorter, Kyler's max potential height is 6'1.

Thanks guys. We got a kid, Marquise Doherty, who isn't quite at the same level but was drafted in baseball and was a top 10 player in Missouri in football (I know, not saying much), and wasn't sure about the answers to those questions. Appreciate it.

That's not how it works. Recessive genes and whatnot.
