So... the missus and I are in Port Aransas for a classmate's wedding (yeah, he's 58 like me, it happens) and will be here with no further obligations for a few more days. I want good seafood, dammit, and I bet there are those here who can provide suggestions. Right now we plan on The Phoenix for dinner Sunday. That leaves a couple of openings. What do you surf bums and/or fishermen recommend?

Man I haven't been down there for several years, but over by where the Wharf and Scat Cat's tie up is a little hole in the wall joint that cooks whatever they catch that day.

My in-laws have a place there. I think we have been to Venetian Hot Plate on beach street the most. Go to La Playa next door for Mexican seafood.

My MIL loves Shell's on E Avenue. Probably my favorite not on the water place. We have also gone t Fins a lot, I think it is overpriced.

The beans were OK. The slice of bacon every other day was OK. The rats were a bit chewy.

Thanks for all the suggestions. The Phoenix was very, very good for anybody looking. We'll try one of your suggestions tomorrow before heading back to the grind.

Shell's is very good, as is Beach Street. (Both mentioned above)

If you don't mind a quick drive, come over to North Padre and check out Snoopy's Pier. Exit at the bridge and go under. You can't miss it.
