Have we used it before? Off the top of my head I don't remember ever lining up in the formation.

I really like the way Bama utilizes it in the power run game.

Yeah, we've used it once or twice before today, but someone else will have to tell you when.

Overall I liked the way we used it last night. Tra ran with an attitude, but tackles I've ever seen him break

we've run ~10 plays out of the pistol every game this season. I'd have to go look at the play charts but that seems right. We first broke it out last year vs ULM I believe

I'm honestly not a fan of it with Carson. His first step is too slow and lining him up 8 yards beyond the LOS causes him to get hit in the backfield a lot. It makes more sense with other backs to me but we usually only run it with Carson (even last year) - at least I think so off memory

do you think some of this issue is just because we misuse him?

Well somewhat. He had a great game this week but it was his kind of game (big and physical)

I think the primary problem is he has to be used in every situation right now and all the snaps tire him out. I think Carson is excellent back in a rotation. But he's just mediocre as a workhorse.

But I'm not really sure what Spav/DC see that makes them think he should line up 8 yards behind the line of scrimmage on short yardage plays

the one thing that drives me nuts about our offense is that we dont have an under center i-formation package.
