It's not like they got blown out. Oregon held Cam Newton to 22 points and had the game tied at 19 w/less than 2 minutes left.
Had they actually wrapped up on Michael Dyer instead of assuming his knee was down, Auburn punts from the 50 and it goes to overtime.

All done at Oregon, with second-hand recruits from other regions for the most part.

No. Just no. Chip Kelly had a few top-15 classes while at Oregon. Considering the competition Oregon faced, they actually had superior talent than most of the Pac12.
And not to bring up old wounds, but 'member Bralon Addison?

I didn't say they weren't good players, but he made a living off of taking the top kids that texas, USC/ucla/cal, etc didn't want or have room for. He never had the pick of the litter that he would have had at USC, or even if we hired him.
He coached 4 years and lost 7 games. 3 in his first year. 2 of them in bcs games. Only once did he lose to an Unranked team. He only lost by 10+ 2x, once in his first game, and to an LSU team with possibly the greatest defense ever assembled. He made the bcs all 4 years. He went 2-2 against Stanford losing year 1 by single digits, and his last year by a fg in OT.
I certainly don't think the Kelly era of Oregon can be used as anything but an incredible positive in the spread offenses favor.

I think what everyone is trying to tell you is that the spread offense is not all it's cracked up to be. And that hard nose defense, running between the tackles, and play action can whip its arse with speed and size.

Not anymore. Defenses are used to it.

Today's positives: Mond can throw now!
Today's negatives: Literally everything else!

And UCLA lost to Memphis...

and gave up 48 in the process.

I went fishing this morning and didn't watch the game until now. I'm legit surprised Mond threw so well, he may actually have a future here once he has an ounce of pocket presence. Outside of that, we are still mostly dogshit. At least it feels like we play 50% true freshmen (jn year 6 ofc), new coach will have talent to work with.

this sequence is perfect example of the problem with our offense.
its not the spread.
its not the players.
its the complete lack of situational awareness.

Back when I used to read Texags Olin was the biggest sunshine pumper/puff piece guy around. Wonder what he talks about now.

I swear if it came out Sumlin has been betting his own games I wouldn't be surprised lol.

From the few articles of his I've read, and of the radio segments he's been on, it sounds like he's one of the more realistic ones if the texags media crew. He's been pretty fair and honest in the stuff I've seen.
It's still a nightmare listening to his gravel-y voice on the radio, I much prefer reading his articles than listening to them....

Exactly. It's not like we'd solve all our problems if we started using the Patriots' playbook.
I don't know how good our scheme is, but I imagine it's fine. Our problems stem from poor fundamentals and play calling

I hate...hate...HATE that shite.
When it's 3rd and short and you're in their territory, you run straight at them. If you gain any yards but don't make the 1st, run it again or sneak it.
