That whole board is insane. Their coaches never met with any victim apparently, they were never trained properly in title IX, etc etc. Jesus Christ. Because obviously you need to be trained to know you have to report rapes and not cover them up and not try and keep people you know have committed serious crimes on the team. Ok...

As far as I can tell most of the numbnuts still don't get it. They badly need several multi-million dollar lawsuits against BU. My guess is they still wouldn't get it, though. It would all be "the media's" fault.

Well, the gist is "don't confuse baylorfans posters with real life". Fair enough. But then we have multiple boosters calling for Briles to be brought back after a year in limbo. Seems real life enough to me.

It's real life. I don't know that it will be successful, but there genuinely is intense pressure from some major boosters to bring him back. They're totally nuts and utterly shameless, but it's real.

Clay Travis (yeah, I know, shut up) had a good article about it a few days ago. If they don't fire him for cause, they're on the hook for $40 million dollars on his contract. (This is speculative, since BU isn't required to provide contract details.) That's not chump change to anybody, but especially not to a smallish school like BU. And so far there's not really anything pointing to Briles specifically (at least not that we know about) that would justify firing him for cause. So either bring him back (unthinkable to most) or publicly declare all the shite he did. I'm guessing they can't do that without implicating dozens of others in the process. Cleaning house is obviously the right move, but I think those dipshits are still hopeful they can come through this looking good and still competitive. I don't see it.

I think a lot of people mistake "suspended with intent to terminate" with "fired for cause." With so much pending litigation, they're not going to fire him for cause unless they have live boy/dead girl video evidence.
They'll reach a settlement with him that includes a gag order. They can't afford the wildcard of a bitter former employee running around spinning his story while they battle on multiple legal fronts.
That's pretty much been the only outcome from the jump

And away we go... Fired coach Art Briles says Baylor using him as scapegoat
Posted on 6/16/16 at 1:45 pm to finestfirst79
So much for him coming back. This must mean that hope is lost.

This is going to get interesting. I bet more of the fecal splatter gets on ol' Art than he thinks. Especially if reports are true he met with victims personally, outside of proper procedure.

I was just about to post that. This is gonna get interesting

here's a local Waco article that includes better quotes imo
There doesn't appear to be merit here. There's no mention that they failed to give him an Upjohn warning or anything. It seems a rather naive motion tbh.
I suspect this is just a negotiating tactic and what's really going on is Briles showing he's not above going nuclear if need be. I still firmly believe they will settle. And this passage makes that pretty clear
quote:
On April 7, the motion says, Briles met with Baylor staff attorney, Doug Welch, and Lisa Brown, an attorney from Houston who told him that represented him in the Hernandez suit, the motion says. "Coach Briles provided (the attorneys) with extensive personal information related to this case and other matters during the interview," the motion says.
But since then the lawyers, among other things, have "used statements, text messages, emails and other personal information obtained for the purpose of this litigation in support of Baylor University's termination of Coach Briles," the motion says.

“Mr. Briles does not wish to settle the Hernandez civil rights litigation and does not consent to any settlement in that case or in any other case in which (he) is jointly named as a defendant,” Cannon said in the letter filed as an exhibit with the motion.

Plus I think it shows that his hopes of going back are shot.
Some on Baylorfans still have hope though:

Supposedly it went to mediation and they have reached a settlement.
So... it's almost a sure thing he ends up as HC @ Tech in a couple of years, right? Anyone see a reason that Tech would NOT do that (hire an alumnus who grew up out there in the plains, who runs their style of offense, who is almost guaranteed to be successful) despite the dark cloud around him?

Yeah there's no way Briles ends up as the HC at Tech

After this? Even Tech isn't that dumb.
