So most of us have likely seen the play:

Garrett v ASU

Did he guess the snap count?
Does he operate on a different level than others?
Dumb luck?
Dat Nguyen used to make plays like that, and I eventually decided he was a wizard.

Don't know whether or not ESPN will continue its Freak of the Week feature, but I nominate Myles.

looks like he timed the count there, but that's still a nasty first step. dude is a freak among freaks.

He's like a taller Derrick Thomas.

Freak stuff.
I'd like to be a fly on the wall today, listening to that left tackle talk about what it was like to try to block Myles.

That's absurd, but he definitely read the snap count. I'd be interested to know if the center (or QB) was giving something away throughout the game.

I concur

Obviously, Garrett is Bruce Wayne.

I think their o line was having to watch for the snap due to the noise and that gave him the advantage

For those too young to remember him, go watch tape of Derrick Thomas and tell me they dont look crazy similar. The first step was crazy for both.

Nails, Roger.
"You get to that point where he's [QB] in sight. At that point you just lock him in and go for it."

Reminds me of early DeMarcus Ware with the Cowboys. He got called for offsides once for getting across so fast. The replay showed that he wasn't offsides.

Heard a pretty good joke today...

Myles Garrett was born on December 29th, 1995. The year gave up two days later.

It makes me sad that he will not be spending four years on Kyle Field.

As impressive as Garrett's first step is, Daylon Mack's is right up there. There were times when both of them were ~3-4 yards up field before the shotgun snap had reached the QBs hand. I have never seen anything like that out of college D-linemen before.

If he's watching for tendencies in addition to his athletic ability it WILL get ugly (for the other teams, great for us).

Later in the season if he's seeing stuff on game films and doing the same thing, NCAA Defensive POY?

He was timing the count all night.

And that is NOT a knock on his abilities. Dude was a man among boys. ASU's QB or OC or someone was a total idiot for letting the clock get under 5 seconds before snapping so much. You can't do that vs a talent like Garrett. If he knows when the ball is going to be snapped, he will get by you more times then he won't.

Garrett will be playing, and playing a lot, on Sundays in the near future.

Not me. We could use a first round defensive draft pick for recruiting purposes. Heck he might be our first number one overall pick.

Better than the alternative.

Yeah, he was stuffing run plays with 2 guys draped over him at times. Timing the snap count is an advantage for any defensive end but if he doesnt have that luxury, hes fine regardless.
