Disappointments
The first couple of drives on defense. I think the scheme to open the game was too optimistic about our ability to stop the run. After that they did better. Over all I thought the D did alright. The first quarter though was not good.

The offense. Never got into a rythm and never did much of anything. Kyle was off and I think he was rattled and pressing for much of the game. The plays were there to be made we have got to be better at making them. QB play was not good. Kyler is not ready for the stage yet and having him in there would just set us back further.

Playcalling. Seemed disjointed to me. That is the biggest thing I miss about kk. His Playcalling was smooth and attacked holes in the defense. He also used the whole field which the spread must do. I really don't think we are running a spread right now and have not for quite sometime.

Things I feel good about

The defense. After the first couple of drives they locked it down pretty well. The d line stepped up and the secondary did not look bad. We are in good hands and I think will be a force next year. They are getting better each game. Cannot wait to see how we look the rest of the year and next year.

Special teams. They were awesome. Have to give the return and coverage teams a lot of love. Also Bert has turned into a pretty solid kicker. I hope he keeps it up.

Over all take away.
I have to keep reminding myself that the things that Johnny did at QB do not happen with many if any other QB. But the ones we have now need to grow fast. They are both very very young. There are growing pains with these guys and both will be better.

The defense is going to be lights out as we get more playmakers on the field. We need more linebackers. We have to have guys that will fill gaps and shut down the run. Both of these will come.

It sucks it played out like it did and I know many of you will call me Pollyanna but this was not a disastrous game. The difference was the 3 pick sixes. Without those who knows how it plays out? I'm gonna sound like post Ole miss Bama fan here but it was a flukey game. We did not make the plays necessary and shot ourselves in the foot. After the way the defense stepped up after the first couple of drives I think we have a great shot a beating LSU. The rest of the season will be alright.

Agree with everything you posted. Special teams was excellent, defense definitely improved as the game went on and got stops when we needed them, it was our ineptness on offense that lost us this game.

I said in one of the game prediction threads that the biggest threat to stopping our offense was ourselves. Yes bama has a good D but we can be pretty good at stopping ourselves unfortunately. Of course I thought that was going to be accomplished by spav calling some stupid plays, not 3 pick sixes, but the result is the same. Take even two of those away and I think this game would have been a lot closer, and possibly winnable.

Our offensive line is awful right now.

I'm not sure Avery Gennesy and Jermaine Eluemunor are not complete busts right now. I personally think Koda Martin is a far better player than Gennesy and it's very noticeable that almost every time Allen has gotten rushed/sacked, it's been because of failures on the left side of the line (Gennesy/Stuckey).

We played well enough in 2 facies of the game to beat Bama. Special teams was awesome and defense did good enough. Take away the first Q and they played 1 hell of a game. I have a hard time believing Kingsbury wouldn't have our guys scoring 30 a game without blinking. I don't think Spav is bad at this job like a lot do, but he's not special. I think we can do better.

I'm concerned with the now consistent over throws by Allen.

We desperately need a run game.

I missed most of the game, watching it now, our oline is putrid Kyle Allen is playing like he's scared to death and is making horrible decisions, we have no running game to speak of.

The defense is better but we are still soft as frick up the middle and although the des are great at rushing they need to slow down and quit getting destroyed in run situations.

We are going to lose at least one more and more than likely 3 more.

You think its more than likely we lose to one of Auburn, Vandy, Western Carolina, and South Carolina?

At worst we lose 2 more.

who is the 3rd? I assume you think we lose to Ole Miss and LSU.

None of Auburn, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, or Western Carolina has shown they can consistently move the ball on anyone.

We are going to drop one we shouldn't, I don't know which one but we'll step on our dicks in one of them.

If we drop one we shouldn't, it will be Ole Miss.

They are reeling and in disarray.

GTFO! Our defense played great against the run the last 3 quarters. Half of their 2nd half rushing yards came on a Coker scramble.

We held them at 1st and goal.

Disappointed in how we lost. Can't give up 24 points off of turnovers and expect to win.

Any QB driven offense is going to look disjointed if the QB is having an off day. We could not take pressure off of Allen because we could not run the ball.

Offensive line has improved but is not good enough against a very physical defense like Alabama. Still looking for an answer at left guard. Stuckey plays the majority of time but we keep inserting Sutherland trying to see if he can improve enough during the year to beat out Stuckey.

We desperately need a back with more speed. Carson does a good job for his role but we need somebody with speed against elite defenses.

Defense obviously has to start games much better. We got trucked up the middle in the 1st quarter.

I hope Kyle's shoulder injury is not a major deal for the rest of the season. It will be tough sledding breaking Kyler Murray in if he has to assume the starter role.

Honestly, I think the Bama game was that step on our dicks game.

When was the last time an Aggie QB threw 3 pick sixes in any game, much less at Kyle Field? Played well enough on ST and defense to go toe to toe with Bama. Offense was the one that fricked up a damn good effort, and as good as Bama is on defense, we gave them all the help they could want.

allen was in too much of a hurry all game long (didn't have a choice really).

happy feet = interceptions. unless the qb just runs the ball (which i am shocked we didn't play kyler more so he could run and when we played him he didn't run much even though he's a marginal thrower).

bama just played over the top because they weren't concerned about our run game and we couldn't pass block against a 4 man rush consistently. that lets a defense sit back and take chances against the pass.

we'll be fine. also, jff wouldn't have won a heisman, or more than 8 games in 2012 behind our oline. most important position group in football and it's our worst or second worst position group. not good.

good news? stopping lsu will be similar to stopping bama, probably a little harder, but their defense isn't remotely close to being like bama's (though their run D is stout). i doubt we have the same issues with the pass rush against them.

i'm still miffed that kyler was brought in the game to throw, not scan the field and get first downs in chunks with his feet (like he damn well could have).

Bama 2015 has an elite defense. I don't think that's debatable. Kliff was our OC one season. We played 3 elite defenses that year.

Florida we scored 17
LSU we scored 19
Bama we score 29

The only game we even broke 20 our QB played out of his mind. So I'm sorry but I reject your theory. Kliff was a good OC. Spav is a good OC.

Routinely scoring 30 per game vs teams like Bama will never happen. That doesn't mean we can't do better or can't sometimes go HAM on a great defense. But this isn't the Big 12 and the idea that we need to score 30 points every game is simply setting yourself up to be disappointed. Literally no one could meet that sort of expectations.

biggest question this week is how the team picks itself up. Whether they dwell on this or refocus.

I was impressed how resilient we were yesterday. When we got down 21-3, I wasn't sure we'd respond. But they did. They came out and played hard til the end.

Sumlin put a lot of weight on Kyle Allen as well. I was a bit surprised by that. Will be particularly interesting how he responds.

I used the wrong terminology in a section I used spread instead of air raid. Would love to hear your thoughts on the game.
