Remember this name. What he has accomplished at Colorado is VERY impressive. I see him as a strong coaching candidate.

He's orchestrated 2 impressive turnarounds at San Jose St and now Colorado. Would like to see some sustained success before jumping on the bandwagon.

He'd be such a 180 to Sumlin given his Baptist/Conservative nature too.

I wonder if you'd be able to pry him away before his son is done at Colorado though.

I'm thinking a year from now if Sumlin fails to right the ship.

Very doubtful. I also doubt CU is going to give him up w/o a fight and wouldn't be surprised if they are willing to double his salary to keep him.

I actually follow CU. We would not be patient enough for this coach.

He went 1-10 and 5-7 at San Jose State. He later had the top recruiting class in the WAC and went 10-2. He likely won't have the top recruiting class in the SEC if he comes to A&M, so are we looking at another 5-7 type performance?

At Colorado he went 4-8,2-10, and 4-9 before this year. I don't think our fanbase is this patient.

This year he finally has a Senior QB which has played significant snaps every year. They've lost to both Michigan and USC. They did barely beat the Cardinal and Oregon on a down year, but those teams are not close to the equivalent skill talent of most teams on A&M's schedule. Stanford and Oregon are rated below Bama, LSU, Auburn, UT, Ole Miss, and the healthy UCLA teams that A&M had on its schedule this year according to 247 total team talent.

Had A&M managed to keep Knight healthy Sumlin, would likely have had a much better season than MacIntyre and Knight was only with the A&M program since this Summer vice the nearly 4-year started at CU.

IRCC, both SJSU and UC were absolute dumpster fires when he took over. Y'all aren't quite there. He'd likely turn into around quicker.

Winning consistently in San Jose is a tall order. CU had been down for some time before he turned it around. He'll be on some short lists for phone calls for certain.

They were. SJSU was ranked #138 in Sagarin the year before he was hired, and #29 by the time he left.

Colorado was #156 the year before he was hired, they're now #11 now.

That's 2 FBS programs that were worse than dozens of FCS programs.

Does LSU want this guy? Does Auburn want him?

I could learn to live with it, I think.

It's funny to see an LSU fan pitch this guy to A&M, but isn't all in himself even though they have a vacancy.

Two different programs. For example, LSU isn't going to frown upon hiring a guy that may have had some questionable stuff going on at a previous stop (i.e. Jimbo) but given what I'm reading from y'alls posts that may not be the same at aTm.

MM has done nothing but improve the teams he's coached, has ties to Texas, and is apparently a baptist ("nice guy" blah blah).
