I fricking love this kid. He came on strong late last year and was hoping it was a sign of things to come. He looked like an absolute ball hawk terror at nickel in the first game.

I can't wait to see what Chief has planned for utilizing him and the fact we are deep enough to put him at nickel is crazy considering how thin we have been at safety in the past.

I remember nabbing him really late in the process and our fans not thinking much of it. What a beast, maybe my favorite player from that first game

Had Bercovici not hit the deck on that last sack he might've died.

Chavis may be the best DC in the country when it comes to utilizing the nickel. Donovan Wilson could be our poor man's Honey Badger this year. And Christian Kirk can be the return man part.

Without a doubt, Wilson's kind of play where he was basically a rover blitzing off the edge and attacking the ball is what I dreamt about when we made the hire. It was awesome to see it happen so soon.

There were plays were ASU had our asses on some screens. Didn't matter, both Wilson and Evans made plays either at the line of scrimmage or in the backfield. We would frick up, but nothing would happen

Which was always our offense's experience playing LSU.

Yeah, he wasn't rated all that high by the services, and some people discounted his tape because they thought his picks came on a lot of terribly thrown balls that resembled punts. But IIRC, he got a personal in-home visit and offer from Saban close to signing day. I don't think that happens unless Saban sees something.

Totally Agree.

He came to play against ASU. Hope he keeps it up.

Toot my own horn time (not that I was the only one), but I knew this guy had some skills. His highlight reel was Christian Kirk or Speedy like, but he was a low 3 star. Made no sense.

S Donovan Wilson: Just now watching film on this guy. How is he rated so low? These are some incredibly athletic INTs.

When he committed to Utah:

Diamond in the rough. I hope this doesn't bite us in the arse.

As a fan, I'm weary of falling into the trap of having a laser focus on ratings. I know it isn't everything, but Wilson was a playmaking machine in his videos.

When he committed:

YES!!!!! Underrated guy, calling it.

Hope he keeps it up. He definitely deserves his own props for the ASU game. And to think, he flipped from Utah late in the game and Hall flipped on signing day

I recall us recruiting him only after losing Dylan Sumner-Gardner to Boise State.

His HS highlight reel

Diving INTs, won jump balls, impressive returns, forcing fumbles left and right...he was just a one man wrecking ball in HS.

Props to Roger too with this quote, this is just funny

Just watched Wilson's highlights. If that dude's a three star then five stars must be capable of telepathy and unassisted flight.

Too soon. :)

But... his recruitment was a little bizarre. Alabama and A&M jumped on him about the same time really late out of the blue. No real SEC interest before his senior year, but i guess being a turnover producing bad arse motherfricker will change that rep in a hurry. Glad we landed this kid. He had a pretty good game in the bowl last year as well.

I just hate the honey badger comparisons. Who gives a frick about that? Let him be Donovon Wilson 1.0
