Isn't Strong's buyout something like 15mil$?

Strong's contract has no buyout. It is fully guaranteed. But after this year, he'll have 3 more at $5 per, so the result is the same. Some of the salary they owe him could be off-set if he gets another coaching job, but he's not going to get any offers to put a dent in that pile of wasted cash.

Also, Strong had a $4.375M buyout at Louisville. So that plus two years at $5M per means the horns have dropped $14.375M on him.

All Texas needs to do is tell Red that he can have a say in the next hire and he will foot the bill to get rid of Charlie.

Surely they're replaying the TCU game, right? I mean it's not like they would deliberately forego showing the game replay for those that missed it in favor of "alternative programming"...

Are you serious?? If they don't replay their losses then they won't have much to play.

The reason is recruiting. After today, and with A&M, TCU, and Baylor all winning right now, LSU doing their usual poaching in the Houston are and Ultra-Cheaters Ole Miss now stealing top kids, Charlie's recruiting is going to absolutely flop this year.

It could be worse if OU takes the conference (and they have a good shot at doing so). OU has always done well in North Texas recruiting-wise.

Charlie's biggest errors so far IMO, have been his game management skills and his coaching hires.

He has zero ace recruiters on the staff, and you just can't do that in a place like Texas. They're entire mindset is off on recruiting and the guy they had at Louisville that was good got sanctioned by the NCAA. I think Texas not going after Orgeron was a huge mistake, but they need to go pay a lot of money to someone that can actually help them finish in the top 25 of recruiting.

Charlie Strong press conference in a few. Bet he is so puckered up right now he couldn't stick a greased needle up his own arse.

Press about to pounce.

Best quote so far from Charlie himself at the presser..

"You can't not ever not believe" I think I need some kind LHN translation app.

Wow. Now the players are publicly turning on each other. Dylan Haines in a media availability says the Juniors and Seniors are trying, but the freshmen don't want to practice, just play.

Charles Omenihu tweeted "lol" in response. Then tweeted this:

"People get in front of cameras and just talk they heads off always remember think before you speak.

I've said that Strong gets at least one more year, because Perrin, the interim AD, is going to wait for his successor to make the next hire after the 2016 season. But if there's a full on player revolt, we might have Perrin firing Strong and elevating one of his staff as interim coach.

Even the Shag is completely depressed at how the team is devolving:

Somebody better figure out how to get all our players off Twitter before we run out of dumpsters to light on fire

We're going to need more dumpsters

This has gone past dumpster fire, it is now a tire yard fire.

He's been appallingly awful at everything that has to do with team identity and image management, as well as handling team morale.

Look at the rudderless, knee-jerk changes on offense. First it was "We're going to be pro-style!" and he recruited Zach Gentry. Then it was "we're going to run Ohio State's power spread offense!" Then he randomly decided to throw a Hail Mary at Kyler (who ain't exactly built like Tim Tebow), and chased off Gentry by doing so. Then he fired his OC(s?) and demoted Swoopes after 1 game and promoted somebody else who ran yet another style of offense at OU. Oh, and when asked about the offense in the Notre Dame game, he said he didn't know because he hadn't watched or paid attention to it. That's all within 9 or 10 months. There's no plan whatsoever in there. You can't look at it and say "he failed, but I can see what he was trying to do." You just look at it and ask "what were you even trying to accomplish?"

Image management? He has no vision for the team, no answers for its struggles ("we need to find a playmaking guy and score touchdowns!"), and really just comes off as a bumbling doofus.

And then, possibly the worst: morale management. I'm not saying that the team didn't have some discipline and entitlement issues when he arrived, but he was harsher than he needed to be. He ran off a bunch of upperclassmen and has treated the others like crap, with the irony being that his discipline-installing measures have had the opposite effect. The team is now in open mutiny and instead of focusing on practices, the players are publicly sniping at each other on twitter. And this is the week before their game against their big rival. Meanwhile, OU is undefeated, locked in, and hates Texas, so my guess is that the RRS is going to resemble a hate frick curb stomp snuff film (if that doesn't exist yet, Stoops is going to invent it this Saturday morning).

I don't know if he's a good defensive coordinator or not, but he's an absolutely god-awful head coach. He got by at Louisville because of Clint Hurtt and Teddy Bridgewater, a QB that was out-of-the-box fantastic and didn't need any offensive coaching. I know next to nothing about football Xs and Os and know even less about coaching football, but no shite I could do a better job developing a long-term plan for the program and then adhering to it.

Well we have this stupid arse network that we're stuck with, following around the players all the time for their reality show, then we wonder why we have an entire team that acts like the freaking Kardashians.
