Let's be honest, Sumlin isn't losing to NMSU.
Kevin Sumlin: 43-17
Mike Sherman: (fired after 50 games)
Dennis Franchione: 32-28 ("resigned")
R.C. Slocum: 48-11-1
If Sumlin wins out this year (11-1), he would finish the season at 48-17 after 65 games, 4.5 games behind Slocum's pace (52-12-1)

Seems like we have to. He would have three years left on the deal right? That is bad for recruiting.
I wouldn't mind if we paid him more (like 10%) to get a buyout that could be paid over time instead of in 30 days.

The better question is why you would be concerned about this. Sumlin is our guy, much to the chagrin of Roger et. al.

What? It's a legit question. 11-1 in the sec west? Has he not proven his metal and that 11-2 in 2012 wasn't a Johnny fluke?

You surely get it by now, don't you, Sarge? Roger is laughing at your 11-1 projection because there is NO WAY A&M is getting to 11-1. He knows this as certainly as he did that A&M would not make the Sweet 16. Damn I wish we had that picture. Credit him for kinda sorta living up to the claim, but that pic has multiple uses.

I agree, mostly. LSU hasn't learned the fine art of holding without being called for it like Bama and Auburn have, so I think A&M will at least somewhat limit LF. Etling doesn't scare anybody, so it's all on LF and Guice. But LF is still a scary sumbitch. And there's the whole 5-0 thing. 10-2 would be a disappointment but not surprising. I expect 11-1.
