The more I look back on that fiasco the more I get mad that we took the munchkin in the first place.

We were well and truly fricked either way. The repercussions of the perception of him "spurning" us for t.u. would have been nearly as catastrophic.

Just a horrible situation made even worse by blatant mismanagement by Sumlin when Murray got to campus.

Very true. It didn't help that he was not near as good as he thought he was.

Yep. Sumlin was caught between a rock and a hard place. It must have really sucked. I feel bad for him having to endure that, but he does get $5MM a year for it, so my feels are limited.

--- One of our best legacies' sons chooses UTw over us? Disaster for recruiting, huge momentum for Strong.

-OR-

--- Allow in a cancer? (And he had to know that the Murrays were toxic. Watch that interview with Papa Murray around the time of Kyler's recruitment. If EVER there was someone with a punchable attitude it's Kevin Murray. Uber-douche.) Reap the potential whirlwind of locker-room issues, which is what ended up happening.

He was damned if he did and damned if he didn't.

Precisely.

Made the right decision in getting him to sign, but the only way it would have worked out for the program in the long run would have been for Kyler to wind up being better than Johnny. Would have smoothed over a lot of things even with his shite attitude and helicopter father.

Alas....
