Sumlin pretty much never comments on injuries when they aren't season ending. Never has and he ain't gonna start for some kid who was obviously telling the team he felt good enough to play.

But he did comment, repeatedly. He told everyone over and over again Allen was fine and was just playing poorly.

He didn't want to have to say he was hurt but Murray was suspended so we're playing him anyway.

I seem to remember both Sumlin and Kyle saying he was OK physically, but I could be wrong

Okay my wording was troll-ish, but I've been posting here for a year so I figured it would be read as "so... WTF is up with Manziel...?"

Ah well whatever

Amen to everything you said.

Sumlin is fricking terrible. Trying to pin even an ounce of our problems on one player is laughable. The problem is at the top. We have a coach who lies about everything, and he's not even a good liar.

I don't remember if he did or not, but what else is he going to say while still on the team? "Yeah, my coach is an arse and I've been playing hurt to try and cover for him."

He said Johnny was fine after LSU and Mizzou too. Was he thrown under the bus?

What do you want him to say if a reporter asks if a player is hurt? No comment? That would be the same damn thing as admitting he was hurt. Can you not see that?

Again, if Allen was so hurt he didn't need to play that is on HIM for not taking himself out. Unless Allen straight up told Sumlin he didnt think he could go and Sumlin forced him to go out there anyway I just dont see how you waive away any responsibility Allen had in the matter.

Sumlin does not say if players are hurt. He has always been that way. If he had always given out injury reports and suddenly clammed up when it came to Allen it would be different. But that isnt the case. His MO has always been to say the kids are ok unless they are done for the year. Even then he seems to hate admitting a kid ain't coming back and almost has to have that info dragged out of him.

If he was too hurt to play and yet was still forced to take snaps, that's pretty bad.

But if he was just banged up, but still ready/wanting to take snaps to keep the QB#1 spot, then that is just every day type of stuff that happens all across the nation.

I think a distinction needs to be made between the two. If it's the 2nd, we shouldn't act like it was the 1st.

And I say all that as someone who is extremely disappointed in how the last 36 months have turned out under Sumlin.

Here's a thought. Listen to how the players refer to their coach:

Kevin Sumlin - COACH Sumlin

Mark Snyder - COACH Snyder

John Chavis - COACH Chavis

Kliff Kingsbury - COACH Kingsbury

Clarence McKinney - COACH McKinney

Jake Spavital - "Spav"

Anyone think Noel Mazzone will be referred to as anything but Coach Mazzone?

Interdasting.

Although I do recall Manziel being said to refer to Sumlin as "Summy."

Which tracks with Manziel's current career trajectory

It really is up to the coaches to pull a player out. Not only do you want the type of player that wants to play at all costs naturally, players are trained to be that way. For any of you who played organized sports, can you imagine walking up to your coach and saying your shoulder hurts and you don't think you should play next game? It's just not realistic.

Coaches are supposed to be the impartial party that puts the best player on the field, whether it be due to skill or health. Of course Kyle wanted to play and thought he could do better even after lobbing his 20th duck of the game.

On the other side of the coin, Kyle very well could have been 100% hiding the injury and convinced the coaches he was healthy, and I bet they were apt to believe him with Kyler "frick you for pulling me" Murray as the alternative.

How is a "buttfricking traitor" worse than a traitor?

Very interesting post over on AgTimes.

Now that signing day is done it is time for as the Aggies Turn 2015. Some of this will be fact, some will be supposition, some will be rumors.

2015 started about as well as can be expected most people thought ASU would whip us pretty good. We dominated the game and were quite simply a more athletic and faster team.

However, there was some dissension in the ranks. By now everyone knows that Spav and Christensen did not get along. They had different ideas on the direction of the offense and despite the fact that technically Spav was DC’s boss DC would often dominate meetings. (according to players)

This in itself may not have been a problem, but players did not like nor did they respect DC they never bought into his style. This cost A&M Hudson. Hudson met DC and promptly decommitted.

The players did like if not necessarily respected Spav. This division would filter into the locker room. It was fairly obvious throughout the year that there was a Kyler vs. Kyle camp. DC wanted Kyler and made it very clear. Spav favored Allen.

The problem for the team is most players respected neither one. Allen was aloof and quiet and kind of awkward (according to players) simply put he didn’t command a room.

Kyler was not liked at all. He had a few core friends on the team, but the rest pretty much couldn’t stand his attitude and the fact that he was just not as good as he thought he was.

Much, much more at the link.

So basically Houston BMAs vs. Dallas BMAs. Looks like Houston BMAs are getting their way while Dallas BMAs stir up trouble as much as possible because they're getting no say in the matters. Now Dallas BMAs use Texags to spread false rumors and are trying to get San Antonio BMAs to help them (bitch move IMO). You can't make this up folks! The I-45 rivalry is real. Tele-novela in the making.
